I'll be heading back up to MA to see my family for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, and I'm sure many of you who celebrate it are making preparations yourself. But not everyone is in the US or celebrates Thanksgiving, so to make this broader, what's your favorite holiday to spend with the people you care about? I'd love to know about other holidays around the world, and all the wonderful food you prepare! Include pictures or recipes if you desire - I'd love to see! My favorite holiday really is Thanksgiving, mostly because of the amaaazing sweet potato casserole my mom makes! The top is covered with marshmallows and brown sugar - it's basically a dessert haha. Pretty sure I could eat the whole pan myself.

I think I would definitely have to acquire a taste for pickled beets, hehe! A nice warm roll smothered with butter is heavenly though.

@chelseaearnsmore beets are one of those, I love cause I grew up eating them at grams as a treat, kind of thing, most people hate.

Savory sweet potatoes sound amazing!! What did you put in it, if I may ask?

Since I am not living in the US, I started to appreciate the Thanksgiving celebration with its classic food menu --turkey, greens, sweet potatoe, mac and cheese and others. However, I still miss the Christmas celebration in my country, Philippines. Christmas is like Thanksgiving here.

That's great that you've come to enjoy all the Thanksgiving goodies we share! However, I understand missing the Christmas celebrations of the Philippines - do you decorate Christmas trees (obviously not pine trees!)? What kind of things remind you of Christmas in the Philippines? A very long time ago I had a pen pal from Chile and she explained how they celebrate it a lot like Americans do, only it's much warmer there! :)
