After looking at stuff you like on Amazon do you get ads that follow you around?

I get ads that follow me around where I go online. I don't know why this is so but it happens to me.
Call me paranoid or whatever. I just think it's kind of hard to figure out how easy they seem to have it. They, the people who create bots, know where you go online, what kinds of products that interest you.
They follow you around with ads that pop up on other sites you visit and this makes me wonder if there is some kind of marketing thing that pays for ads that follow us around as we go about our daily surfing.
If they can do it online, imagine what they can do on your smart t.v. ?
It seems like one day I will be watching a football game and the next ad will be for Craftsman tools or Preparation H - hemorrhoid ointment. LOL

and that's why we need to clear cookies every now and then, but it's not a permanent solution.

In the same way the powers that be can keep tabs on people when they share certain topics on their Facebook wall or on their Pinterest or Twitter pages. Nothing is private in the world of the internet and sooner or later either we the people will get fed up with things and force change or change will force us to adapt.

Yes, that happens to me a lot. It is kind of scary how so much is known of you.

@lookatdesktop Wow, I didn't think about the books I check out at the local library being on record.
