Why I felt I had to tell my doctor's office much more than they needed to know

Today I called my doctor's office to have them call in my prescriptions to my new mail order pharmacy. In doing so, I spent what seemed to me an inordinate amount of time explaining how the pharmacy had promised to change over my records from a previous account before finally admitting, days later, that they couldn't. The reason I explained so much was because of a saying you may have heard: "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part." Since I was almost out of meds, I was asking the doctor to expedite sending in my scripts. But I didn't want them getting a disgusted look on their faces as they ascribed my need for them to hurry to lack of planning on my part. So, in a round about way I was trying to let them know that it really wasn't my fault. I have to say, I didn't enjoy doing that.

Things happen and those working in medical offices are aware (or should be, one hopes) that not everyone is late doing such things on purpose.

Hello Ronald. We often feel we cannot explain enough our situation. But your need is dire friend..please do not feel guilty that you did explain as you had to. These offices are useless.

I wouldn't have enjoyed the situation either. I hope they've been able to get your prescriptions sorted. They can be difficult to keep track of sometimes.
