MyLot Efficiency Tip

Always Like the post you open. If it is interesting enough to open it is interesting enough to like.
Having that like in place when you go away for a while and then come back, you will know you do not have to read the discussion again, unless you want to, of course.
Old myLot had it set up a little differently and you could tell at a glance if you had liked it already.
So hopefully this will help somebody on the site.

I know, that is easy to do, but when it has a double purpose I am more likely to do it.

@RasmaSandra yes, I think some people did not understand, and maybe I should edit, if you "like" a post and then you find it in your feed again, when you open it, if you see you have liked it, you know you have already seen it. I was here many years and I will open the discussions that say "you might also like" and may find a discussion I replied to 9 years ago, but if I liked it, I do not have to look for my comment, unless I just want to.

@GardenGerty I usually quickly scan the post and make my decision about my comment right away. Then I like and comment just like now.

I would never like something before I read it all the way through. Maybe something in the beginning is good, but then it changes near the end. The like button is right there at the end, not a big deal to find it. I don't see what you mean about leaving and going back. I read, like (or not) and then comment. It goes in order.

If I decide that I did not like something, I can unlike it. I am here off and on all day. Sometimes I pull up discussions from the sidebar that sound interesting. I know if I have already liked them, then I have commented as well. I do tend to read, like and comment.

@GardenGerty I finish one at a time and then I'm done that way Some of those on the side that I did open were so old they were useless.

That is mainly my pointer here. If you have liked a post, unless you want to go back and read all the interactions, then you do not need to read the whole thing again.

No, if I open it and find I need to report it I do not like it, or I "unlike" it if I have already hit the "like" button.

@KnehKnah It works for me to do that as even years later I can tell that I have read a post.

@GardenGerty A very logical thing to do, indeed! I will do the same.

I guess I come to know who may be posting rubbish and I avoid them. I also usually read the post preview. I just use this as a way to know I have read it. Rubbish gets reported.

The only ones I do not "like" are the ones that violate the rules.

I think that is a great tip GG.
I do always like everything I respond to out of habit also.

I am even pulling up old discussions that I answered years ago. I know without reviewing that I did.

I too read, and pressing that like is pretty much like saying I am done though there should be double like or something to prove that we liked for quality or content. But I guess suggest is for that. Only problem with suggest is it is so difficult.

@poehere I am finding that I have been here so long that I am also running on to discussions I commented on years ago. Sometimes I go ahead and make another comment, not for earning, but to perhaps entice the early writer to come back to the site.

@GardenGerty That is a nice way to do this and such a great idea. This can't happen to me because I am not on here that long.

As some point out, perhaps some are not likeable. For me if they are that unlikeable, I probably will report them.

Actually, that would put quality ratings. Right? Many times I come here to say hello to friends. I do not have enough time on my hands, just like now. If I can meet many of them under one post, it is just great. I don't have to go searching for them.

I liked every post that I read so far. I think it is worthwhile to write and post short articles or blogs. Long posts takes so much of our time reading them.

Sometimes I just have to say something that takes a lot of words, but each of us has our preferences.

I've been doing more liking recently than I used to. As I've mentioned, I'm a comment freak. I enjoy giving them and receiving them. How do I use likes to track down posts I've read before but didn't have time to comment on? (Or is that not possible right now?)

@TheHorse ..many things. Such as old lines, tree branches touching those lines and causing sparks, forcing authorities to shut the power. Then there is water shortage..you either use power, or you let the farmers get water and you get some too. Which would you choose? And finally something nobody wants to talk about...population. It is impossible to provide for growing numbers. But we Indians may understand economics, but do not understand how to curtail religious competition. So if the politicians say muslims are increasing in number, Hindus have to. You see, we can't let them outnumber us, even if we are short of water, food, or power. That is humanity.
