Anyone know what the Guinness world record is for high blood pressure?
Went to the doc today because I was concerned about my high blood pressure, however "White Coat Syndrome" first shot the reading off the scale and he couldn't read it. Then it dropped a bit to 250 over 120

@EugenesDDen Last year the doc prescribed too much high blood pressure pills for me and it went too low. You are right, it was awful, dizzy, always feeling like I was going to faint.

@marlina I think the doctors make it up as they go along! My GP prescribed one medication, and two days later the hospital have changed it.

Low blood pressure is probably just as dangerous, because there is always the danger of getting dizzy, losing consciousness and falling. They recommend people with low blood pressure should sit up slowly in the morning and wait a few minutes for things to settle before descending stairs.

Doctor wanted to send me into casualty because BP this high is a hypertensive crisis. However its dropped to 130/75 (after taking a pill) so I'm ok!

@EugenesDDen Lets hope that it was just a blip and that you don't have a problem that requires medication all the time. I am glad that it went back to normal so quickly :D

@maggs224 I'll probably need medication, but am getting a heart assessment. Doctor said he never saw anything like this before. It was probably a good "stress test" for the vascular system though, like the way plumbers pressurise systems during commisioning! I reckon I'm probably overdoing it though, climbing too many steep hills on my mountain bike!

@EugenesDDen It amazes me that anyone could remain conscious with that level of pressure.

I've done some Googling and have come across people which had a systolic reading of 350 and wondered why they had a headache. The potential danger of course is getting a stroke/aneurysm if there are any weaknesses in the "plumbing".

I have discovered that my pressure goes up when I go to the Health Insurasnce Company. They seem to always have a ready answer that a benefit or other is not covered by my insurance. I have to SHOW them that I´m paying for it. My pressure soars.
