Trying to close doors of America will not work.

Because of the terror in Paris some politicians seem to want to close America's doors to Syrians and/ or Muslims. Sorry to bust their bubble but it won't work. America Is great just because we welcome everyone, save known criminals. Being Muslim does not equal terrorist. And it is a slippery slope if we bar people because of religious beliefs. Who is next Catholics? Jews? Buddhists? Atheists? Treating our Muslim Americans as second class citizens is what ISIS is hoping for? Why? The more uncomfortable they are , the more they will be willing to join up. A happy, secure person doesn't plan to blow himself up! Besides this is America! Usually banning something makes it more attractive it seems. Banning someone and they will sneak in. What the fearful Really don't want. So these close America will never work.

The whole vetting process is pretty rigorous anyway. I read up on it. Most likely, if somebody wants to come here to cause trouble, they are either here already or they will come in on a travel visa or something.
This whole thing with demonizing Muslims smacks too much of Nazi Germany for my taste.

My feelings exactly! I thought of Nazi Germany. One huge difference, people like us! We know history so we will not repeat it.

@sarahruthbeth22 I hope you're right, but you look at that demagogue Trump and all the people following him, and I really; wonder...

America is not great because we welcome everyone. America is great because it was founded on the God given right of every individual to be free if they so choose. With that freedom comes the responsibility of every American to stand on their own two feet and to respect their fellow man's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. One key reason that many American's, including myself, oppose the taking in of Syrian refugees is because radical Muslims, such as members of ISIS, who would seek to do harm to America, can easily pose as non-belligerent Muslims making it easier for them to infiltrate the country and launch terror attacks. I have no problem with helping those in need but not when it puts the country's security and sovereignty at risk.

ISIS will come over to the US without posing as a refugee. And who is to judge a true Muslim vs a fake one. If ISIs wants in they can pretend to be Christian , and get a free pass? How will we really know? Closing the door on people we assume are dangerous is just as bad as inviting ISIS. Life, Liberty , and the Pursuit of Happiness is our right and so is freedom of religion. People are smart. They can act like the religion you deem acceptable and get in anyway.

What you said is the typical American spirit, but some Americans may forget it when the terrorism comes. I can't see which country can say they stay safe. Everywhere is not peaceful now. The terrorists can be anywhere. We shall make a better world so that there will be fewer people join to be terrorists. This is the only way to stop terrorism.

I am tired of all the lies an promoters of fear. Refugees are vetted. We should welcome them to America.

I think I know who you're talking about. Closing the boarders or banning people form coming in will not work. I agree. If they were to do it for a short period of time to eliminate some that was able to be eliminated, fine. But that is not the case here. Terrorists are all over the world. There is no country involved. We do need a solution, but it has to be dealt with in a totally different way.

I totally agree. If terrorists want to be here, they will. They probably already are.
