Alphabet Writing Challenge from A to Z. Day 1: A is for ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)

HI everyone, this is just some old idea of mine to motivate myself to keep writing. And MyLot is something motivating me to start writing haha. It's very hard for me to start doing something *blush*. While I am a huge reader, I rarely write... physically. I write but they are all in my head. This sounds odd but it's what I have been doing since young age. My thoughts are keep coming and coming that my brain can't process fast enough to demand my hands to type or write them down. Sadly, that makes me forget a lot of my good thoughts. I may randomly remember them later and lose it again. If I can rant freely, I can rant for good because ideas after ideas and topics after topics keep appearing in my mind. My final piece usually turns out to be much longer than I expected. Right now, I already have a hard time to focus on this. It's such an irony because I am sort of a perfectionist. I like to have an organized and well structured essay or whatever I am writing now. And this rambling thing of mine makes it's way harder to put all of my thoughts into proper places. This paragraph is already a mess *sad face*. Thanks God this is not an essay. It bugs me so much when something is unorganized. I started to learn to let it go though. Anyway, I have so many ideas but I have to spend so much time to sort them all out. It is actually easier for me if I have some restrictions for my work because it limits my thoughts and reduces the possibilities which seems to be endless for me. Whenever it comes to something requires creativity, the more restrictions I have the faster I get it done. That's why I cam up with this challenge. I made it down to one letter for my topic at a time. Even though I have never been diagnosed with ADHD (never get it checked) and I don't think I have it either but maybe I'm pretty close. I do have some symptoms but they are manageable to me. I didn't struggle much in school. Most of the time, it feels like I have multiple minds in my brain. One is helping me to write right now and many other ones is wandering everywhere. And there's a high chance that some of them can get something that catches my attention more than what I should focus on. But I am able to pull myself back after a while, it's just very time-consuming to get something done. However, In exam, I may write my answer for this question but I work on later problems at the same time. I always finish my paper really fast, 2/3 of the time on average but I make mistakes more often, way way more often than other students to the point that I was famous for this. Another example is when I brainstorm for pros and cons of two different topics, I don't finish this part and then go to the next one. I can do all four parts at once because I have four different thoughts going for each one of them. I will fill in this and that whenever an idea pops up until I finish them all together. Now I have no idea what is the point of this post. A little bit introduction of myself I guess. And this is kind of an explanation if you ever find my post is too long or off-topic. Thank you for reading to the end. It is long I know :(. Oh, and this is a fun idea to write, I would love to see everyone try this challenge with me. ^^

ADHD is a hard thing to deal with when children get it. But with lots of attention and working with the kids they can learn to deal with it when they are adults.

I only started to notice about this thing going on my mind in recent years when I started to explore myself (the struggle of a young adult :P). And I have never heard about ADHD until last year. I don't think I have it though because it actually got worse when I grow up haha. But still, I didn't struggle much. It has pro and con. I have a lot of ideas. They may be or may be not related to each other and I just can't choose one easily.

My grandson has it and we never know when it will come on. He is 16 and in high school. Some of his teachers understand this but he has one old teacher that won't help him.

I read your entire article and I can understand what you are saying about having many thoughts going on in your mind at the same time. Sometimes, I am like that, so I write in Microsoft Word and save my thoughts in my documents and then I can go back later and make corrections, if needed, on my grammar and spelling and even change what I wrote or add to what I wrote. Once I am satisfied with the total article, I post it for others to read. It takes longer, to be sure, but I TRY to make the article, easy to read and understand, and something that others might enjoy reading.

@Allamanda I do most of my writing on a desktop computer, so I prefer using MS Word. It's just easier for me. I do have a smart phone and an IPad, but the screen is too small for me to write there.

@Allamanda Yes, most of the younger generation use their phones. I have a Smart phone that does all sorts of things but I haven't figured it all out yet. Too complicated for this older person.

@IreneVincent The feel of physical typing does add up to writing inspiration. I love hearing the typing sound ^^! Phone app is suitable for youngster like me I think as I am almost always on the go :D.

I have never meant anyone with this before. I think if you feel like you have this then you should try to get it checked out. One way or the other you will find out the truth.

Thank you for your recommendation. I'm fine so far. Sometimes it's annoying but sometimes I feel blessed that I have this ability hehe.
