Black Friday

I am the type of person who hates crowds and try to avoid them as much as possible. You will not find me in stores on Black Friday. I love Black Friday deals and such but cannot bring myself to get out in the hustle and bustle of everyone being greedy. There is no way you would ever find me camping out in front of some store to get any item. It is not because I have so much money, I just cannot put myself through that. I would rather do without the item than to go through that rat-race.
Now, I do like bargains and Black Friday sales. I do my Black Friday shopping on the internet. I love Black Friday and even Cyber Monday shopping. I like having the freedom to sit at my computer and shop without dealing with crowds of people. When I sit at my desk and shop, there is nobody fighting over anything. I feel I get just as good of deals as if I had gone fighting my way through all the craziness going on in the stores.
I had one lady tell me she wanted a game system for her child, but they only had one. This other lady had it in her hand, and this lady snatched it from her and bought it for her child. To me, this is wrong, and this should not be allowed to happen. If someone else picks something up before you do, then you lose out, and it belongs to the lucky person who picked it up first. People are greedy, and it sickens me.
How about you will you brave out of the house for Black Friday shopping, or will you do your Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping online?

I remember working in one store as their big sales started - it felt like being in the coliseum arena knowing the lions were coming in at any minute - shoppers should not look like they are storming Castle Frankenstein

I feel sorry for you when you worked at that store. I feel sorry for all the employees that are trying to make a living and required to work Black Friday. It must be tough to deal with all those ungrateful shoppers.

@slund2041 they just want the prestige of getting a bargain before anyone else - it is a fight more than a shopping trip and every shopper for him or her self - it brings out the ugly side of everyone as the shop staff get run ragged trying to be polite and helpful.

Me too. I had nightmares about the place I worked for years after I left that job.

@just4him Well that is good. You might find better deals on Cyber Monday since you are shopping online.

@slund2041 Nope, not if I am out in the woods and that's exactly where I will be. I am going to #optoutside!
REI is closing for Black Friday. We’re going outside and we want you to join us. Learn more and find ways to #OptOutside.

I hate even having to go to the grocery store, so there is no way I would put myself through Black Friday. I love my peace too.

@slund2041 I like my daily walk to the local shops. I sometimes meet friends and stop for a chat

@Auntylou You must live close to the shops, if you are able to walk. I am about six miles from most of the stores.

You missed all the excitement. You have to camp out over night to get the real experience.

@slund2041 Camping out overnight outside a store in winter is not exactly my idea of fun and excitement lol...
I am not sure what they could offer in the store to change that lol...

Never. I think it's one of the stupidest things that people do. Just my humble opinion, so don't get out of whack. I buy gifts when I see something on sale that I think someone in my family or circle of friends would like. It doesn't matter what month it is. And I have always done that. I also don't wait until a holiday to give it to them. I love giving gifts, but will not be caught up in the holiday shopping or gift giving frenzy.

@Auntylou I am sorry your parents passed away. I bet you miss the holidays when you were all able to be together. It is good to give people gifts year round though, and not just one day a year.

I don't buy anything over the internet, I know that sounds silly but I've never tried it. I'm with you on Black Friday and crowds, I will not be a part of it.

You should try purchasing over the internet. If you are afraid of putting your main credit car online, then get one of those prepaid cards and use it. Stores such as Walmart have Prepaid visa or Master Cards that work great for online purchases.

I thought everyone knew about Black Friday. It is the day after Thanksgiving every year. All the stores run big sales to draw people in the store. It most cases they send out flyers to draw people in, and only get 2-3 of the hot items. People like this shopping day so much, they will pitch a tent outside the store to be the first inside.

@slund2041 I know of a Black Friday during the Lenten Season, but not of a Black Friday sale. Maybe this is not surprising as, just like I've said, I am from the Philippines. We do not have that sale period. But we have "closing out sale", "christmas sale", "opening of classes sale", etc. So, thank you for this information.

You make a very good point here @slund2041 I too am very much like you. I prefer to find bargains on the internet. In fact, I find better deals here sitting in the comfort of your home than in the stores.
It also makes me wonder how far can anyone go by snatching away from another buyer? Is this act worth the savings?

It is not worth the saving to me, but my mother raised me to have decency about myself. I guess it takes all kind to make the world go around.

I, too, never do the line thing. As for the majority of the stores where the line thing isn't in play, I've discovered that showing up early morning invariably enables me to avoid the crowds. This works up to and including Christmas Eve. And, yep; online shopping is also a good thing.
