After spending a few years writing online I have some to the conclusion that you can not sit there waiting for inspiration to just come to you. You have to go out and drum up inspiration. You have to read, listen, watch, experience, and just plain old go out hunting for it. You have to cultivate ideas, make up stories, reach subjects, and work at it. I do the above plus I also have a whole list of writing prompts that can be surprisingly helpful. I will share with you my favorite quote concerning inspiration: You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. ? Jack London How do you find inspiration and ideas?

I find inspirations and ideas from pictures, and things that I have searched on.

@marlina I do find inspiration sometimes from pictures too. Some pictures seem to stir the imagination.

That's a good quote. Photos often serve as an inspiration too.

@JudyEv that's so true. Many times I can look at a picture and a whole story starts forming in my mind.

I find news and talk shows (which talk about news) a good source of writing fodder.

@patgalca I think they are both great sources for writing ideas. I like some of the talk shows, they are so full of interesting happenings.

honestly, i write when the mood strikes me... but when i really have to write (for a client perhaps), i watch TV. more often than not, I formulate solutions from plots of soap operas, commercials, etc. I rant when I can't get the solution i need and that's what i write down. :P

@Irglara it's funny how many different ways you can find inspiration.

Sometimes I just start typing and see what comes out. But most of my inspiration comes from my skewed perspective on my totally average and boring life.

@Rollo1 I like your skewed perception. I think it's all in how you present it and you have that down pat.

I have a lot of things to review and that's what inspires me and my online writing.

@ReViewMeMedia I think we get a lot of our inspiration from our everyday life.

I have been having a hard time finding inspiration lately. But this is a friendly reminder that I need to get off my butt and go find it again. :)
