Tablets vs Caplets

I just took some paracetamol to shift a bit of a headache that was coming on. I'm not a regular pill-popper, but I do like to keep a well stocked medicine chest to relieve those minor emergencies when they occur, from antacids for indigestion, to oil of cloves for toothache.
The tablets I just took were exactly that: tablets. Not capsules, not caplets, but huge round tablets. These are on sale right alongside their torpedo-shaped alternatives, and they cost exactly the same. Their presence raises this question:
Why would anyone buy tablets, when caplets are available?
Swallowing a caplet is simplicity itself. Just put it in the mouth and swallow with a drink of water. Job done.
Swallowing a tablet is like trying to digest a wheel from Fred Flintstone's car. And when you think you have finally washed it down, you feel it stuck at the back of your throat and you spend the next ten minutes speaking like Clint Eastwood at his gruff best.
Do you struggle with tablets?

Cap lets would be my first choice, but I have been able to swallow tablets without too much diffic.

I used to be really bad at taking tablets and I'm not much better now. Some of the big capsules would choke a dog.
