What To Expect At A Passport Interview?

It has been confirmed, I am due for a interview to confirm my identity! I am applying for my first Adult passport and therefore they need to carry out an interview despite me being born in the UK and full blown British citizen. Has anyone been to these interviews? How long do they last and what questions do they ask? I know it will be fine, but just means I need to book a day off work just to attend an interview on Manchester!

I have an Italian passport, because I was born in Italy and I am Italian. I never had a passport interview, I asked for the passport, filled a form, gave 4 photos and it was all I had to do.

@gudheart Not at all, you are Italian and it's your right to have a Passport, this is in our Constitution.

@LadyDuck No I meant they must be getting stricter and interviewing more people applying for new passports ( In the UK anyway).

If you are who you say you are (and I think we can take that as given) then you'll have no problems.

Since you are a British citizen, everything will be fine for you to get the passport. Just make sure you bring all the required documents to the interview. In fact they just want to take you a photo and probably record your fingerprints and that's all.

@gudheart 30 minutes is so long time... Perhaps it is just the maximum time. You may just need three minutes

They said it will be an informal interview lasting 30 min. Still seems unnecessary :(

All the best with your interview, I personally think it's a waste of taxpayers money.

@gudheart I hope it doesn't, still wasted 30 minutes of your time plus time to get there.

I agree. I hope it does not take long. It is supposed to last 30 min!

@Jessicalynnt It was as I had to get my counter part to resign the second document again and she lives 20 min away.

I have never even heard of such an interview, despite holding my British passport since the late 1970s.
