American Holidays.....not counting Christmas

As Americans, we have a holiday of some kind at least once a month. Count them, gov't holidays, bank holiday, traditional, religious holidays. I think we are the only country with so many holidays! Now with the Internet, we can literally scream it to the world! But do we need to. I've had other foreign friends thru the years in the web, and not many of them have "screamed" about their holidays from the rooftops, like we Americans do. How many American's know when holidays are in China, France, Russia? I think each country, culture should be able to celebrate their own holidays without Western influence. We are all becoming "the same", instead of keeping hold of our culture identity. Should we "tone it down a bit", or keep the world in envy of our holidays and the way we celebrate them?

We all have the write to talk/write about what we wish - no one has to read them if they don't want to.

Well if they want to speak about the holidays they are more than welcome too. I know it can get overwhelming reading about all kinds of holidays etc on the web but i find it interesting learning what each person does on each holiday and the different traditions.

We in the Uk have more than our fair share of holidays, sprinkled throughout the year, but most are Bank holidays...the craziest one is Xmas which has now extended into the New Year for many..
