What is the purpose of man on earth?

As far as you are concerned, does God enter the picture at all? What do you think happens when we die?

@totobasso The bible is an interesting collection of writings and I do believe the message originates from God. (For atheists reading, or a consciousness superior than ours)

I would add to that, that it is assumption, and then a claim is made-claims will either persuade some, or not persuade others-they must be judged by their merits as having either validity, or personal meaning. Depending on how that is answered, one may further propose the question of how to make the best of it? That question shouldn't scare we believers, because it is something which our own Scriptures ask...the here and now is also part of the Theological and Philisophical questions (or if one preferes, speculations).

@arthurchappell For some of us it is not an assumption at all. It is a reality that we see as clear as day. We have done our homework and we are convinced.

This sounds as if we're living in 'Purgatory". This also correlates with some major Buddhist teachings.

@srisahara I agree with you on the tests part, partially on the heaven part and not all all on the "hell" part.

@Drosophila I find no scriptural evidence for purgatory in most Bibles.

It doesn't work for me! I was an atheist. I can no longer be as the evidence is overwhelming as far as I'm concerned. I reached the same conclusion as Antony Flew who was an advocate of atheism for some 50 years.

@totobasso - So you'd think of yourself as a deist? I think this is a reasonable position, although it does nothing to answer the questions you pose.

@troyburns deism: "a movement or system of thought advocating natural religion, emphasizing morality, and in the 18th century denying the interference of the Creator with the laws of the universe" Actually, I'm a believer in a God that actually is doing a lot in the universe and on earth. So, my current position is that the purpose of man in to get to know God and work with him in a wonderful future for himself and for others that do the same.

I feel Im here to help my fellow m an, to be unselfisy and grow mentall y,physically and spirituall y l this is my o wn opinion so please do respect it. We all do have a purpose and we learn it as we mat ure and do what we were designed to do.

@totobasso Well there are times when we have to behave like students because we humans have come up with a society that constantly demands ..

Is it a school? Are we being tested? Are we being molded? Are we being trained?

Can you share one why with us or a few?

So then we want to be one of those good humans?

@totobasso , I believe there is a higher power, and as I said, I feel I have been put here to live, learn, experience. And I guess a person will only find out after they pass on. I know no more than that and I do not ponder on it too much.

@totobasso here all said that if you do good work in this born then only you become man or woman in next birth otherwise you become animal in next born.

@birjudanak Sorry it does not make sense to me. If one becomes animal how can he become human again? Animal does not reason so he would be stuck as an animal. If he is punished by becoming an animal, how does he know?

I don't believe in rebirths from insects to man. We are born once as a man or woman and might be reborn one more time as a perfect man or woman and it ends there. My beliefs are based on the Bible.
