Or anyone else who is working this time of the year.
I honestly cannot believe some of the stories that my wife tells me about how rude people can be.
She said yesterday while she was working there was a number of rude people on Thanksgiving
Remember:
The cashier has no control of the prices, coupons, deals etc.
On top of that many they are paid minimum wage, or just barely above it
So this holiday season let's be nice to them and treat them the way you would want to be treated.

@3SnuggleBunnies Exactly. The regulars especially I was happy to go out of my way for or to set aside things for.

Overall I don't think I had much more than one rude-ish person this year! Though I will agree people think we can control the prices and quantities available on things. I think some people are rude because they have other issues in their life or figure anyone that works retail is low brow by comparison to them

Most jobs in the service industry are thankless jobs. Those of us who work food service or retail seem to be on the bottom of the barrel when it comes to being appreciated.

@3SnuggleBunnies yes people in such roles are seen as barely a step above slaves in many people's eyes

@arthurchappell except, we go home at night (often, LATE at night) and leave the job at the door.

We were talking about those people who has a first hand encounter.with customers like cashiers or tellers. On being nice to them because we have no idea of what kind of people they have met while doing their job. Being nice to them can somehow makes them feel better

This is a good thing to remember any time of the year, in any store.

It is definitely frustrating standing in line, lugging around all the items we want to buy but also we have to respect the cashier. They are just one person and they're not used to this kind of crowd. They follow the computer rules and if the discount doesn't apply, they can't do much about it. Many people just want to get good deals and put more pressure on the cashiers.
