The elephant snuggle I am working on

I have made an appointment with my doctor today, and I will go for my second pregnancy checkup. I woke up really early, so hopefully I can register myself earlier and get to do the checkup very soon. It's Saturday, so there will surely be many people waiting to see the doctor. The doctor was doing an operation while I called the nurse, so I will only get to see the doctor at noon time. Hopefully I will still manage to see the doctor and do the checkup today. During pregnancy period, these checkups can be quite tiring, as we need to wake up early and wait for quite a long time in order to see the doctor. But, I guess the children are excited to see how the baby is growing in my womb. I guess I will just bring along my crochet work with me, the elephant snuggle while waiting at the clinic. Any plans do you have for today? Image: This is the elephant snuggle I am working on, 8 more rounds to go. Hopefully I can finish it while waiting at the clinic.

Your snuggle is coming along nicely. Is it going to be a gift for someone?

Thanks. That is for my son, as he requested for it. I might make a few more for my friends for their newborn babies and my own baby soon.

I hope you were able to get a visit in on a Saturday! And all is well with you + your family. The snuggle blanket is turning along nicely, love the color combinations you picked out!

Thanks. We managed to get the visit, after two hour waiting at the clinic. The baby is healthy as well. My son is the one who chose the colors of the snuggle blanket.

@kaka135 That is great you were able to get a visit and great news to hear baby is healthy. Do you find out the gender soon? It is very uncommon to get a doctors appointment here in the US for weekends. They are closed, only urgent care/emergency mainly open weekends.

You have a very nice and productive hobby. That can really kill your boredom when waiting for your turn in the doctor's clinic.

Yes, I am really glad I have learned this hobby since last year. Sometimes I even get addicted to crocheting. It's so fun and therapeutic.

Congratulations! As to doctors who make their patients wait, I can't seem to understand why they make us wait when in different situations/professions appointments are observed. And to think they are professionals.

Thanks. I do not think all the doctors purposely want to keep us waiting, but perhaps the appointment system here is not as advanced yet or the staff who executes this are not so professional yet. The doctor did tell me there will be many patients on Saturday, and asked me to reserve a spot earlier in the morning, so I do not need to wait for too long. Of course, I agree that there are some doctors who like to keep the patients wait and go to the clinic late.

@Beatburn Unless they really need to attend to their patients in the ward. Some doctors need to do operation urgently and unexpectedly, and I think we all understand this.

@kaka135 All doctors should be reminded I guess. They can't just make the excuse that they had an emergency to attend to, if they ever explain themselves at all, that is.

What a good news! I am late to know it. I hope your checkup went well. At the beginning of pregnancy it is very tiring. You need to have more rest. Take care

It is a good idea to bring something you can work on while waiting. It will make your waiting productive and not boring at all.

Yes, but I actually didn't crochet much while waiting, as I was spending time with my two children.

Why go on weekend? You sure have to wait a very long time during weekends. If you go on a weekday, that will be better, since the doctor has more time to explain to you about the development of your baby.

We chose to go on weekend so my husband doesn't need to take leave on weekdays. The doctor I am visiting actually explains quite detailed to me, I didn't have much questions too.

That long wait for doctors to call us in is a common scene everywhere. You did a wise thing to keep yourself usefully busy as it will serve both the purposes You will get something done and you time will pass off easily. I always have a full day that keeps me busy on my toes.

I always like to bring something with me to occupy the waiting time, so I won't feel too bored. Sometimes I like to bring a book. Nowadays, I actually don't need to bring much, as my two young children are enough to keep me busy. Do you mean you need to walk a lot?

Thanks. The crochet work has not done yet, as I was spending time with my two children while waiting for the doctor. We have been waiting for 2 hours, the children have got quite bored.

My, I guess things are done differently where you live versus where I live, happymum... ? IDK. When my wife and I went in for check-ups during her pregnancy we just called and made an appointment, then showed up a few minutes before our appointment time. We usually only waited a few minutes and then were taken back to see the medical professional. If we were there for an ultra-sound test, that only took a few minutes, then my wife was cleaned up and we went home again. I do hope everything turned out well with your and your soon-to-be newborn!? I think the blanket is quite nice! You are using a double-crochet stitch, right? I like the pattern!

That's really different! We did make appointment and also called in the morning to reserve a spot, but we still needed to wait for 2 hours. I have never waited just for a few minutes. Yes, that's double crochet. That's basic granny square. You do crochet, don't you? You are really talented!

that is a nice past time while waiting for your doctor to check on you. crocheting is one skill I got from my late mother. I even made a top sheet/bed cover with red and apple green threads, and it hurts my eyes looking at this blanket. (those colors were the only ones available at the store in an island far north of my country)

It seems like many Philippines people know how to crochet, which is really good. I think it's a good skill to pass to our children. Knitting or crocheting is not popular in my country, hence it is not easy to get yarns and other related supplies as well. I am trying to purchase online now. The bed cover must took you really long time and patience to do it.
