Reading Newspapers Online Now

When it comes to reading books, I will always prefer a printed one to a digital version. But as far as newspapers go, to me it is totally different. I much prefer to read the papers online. I find it a lot easier on the eyes and the arms and the neck. No more killing your arms while handling the huge pages of a newspapers. I also find it more comfortable on my neck. Which form do your prefer reading your news on?

I find it's harder for a cat to sit on a tablet than to plonk themselves in the middle of your newspaper.

It's not only easier on the body, but on the wallet and it makes for less recyclable in the box too.

@marlina It would save a lot of trees if we all read our news online. I hadn't really thought about that.

I've only read the online news because I didn't want to pay for a paper subscription - ha ha! But it's true what you've said - there's too much to see and turn with the big clunky pages of a paper newspaper. However, I do still prefer reading the paper comics section rather than seeing comics online.

I guess reading the comics section that way reminds you of your childhood.

@marlina Something more charming about seeing it in print rather than staring at a screen.

I agree that it is easier reading the news online. Plus you don't get the news print all over your fingers.

@marlina that is what I remember the most, having to wash my hands afterwards.

I don't take time to read the news. My husband will tel me certain things that happen, or I might read some of it here as Anna shares a lot of what she reads. I also hear about events when working. I'll read headlines while at work of the actual papers, but I rarely buy one. Even years ago when we had papers delivered, I rarely had time to read them. I mostly got them for inspiration on ideas for novels and such.

@MarshaMusselman You are busy, I can see that, working full time as a cashier is a lot of work.

@marlina I've only been busy this way for the past year and a half, since I began working full time cashiering. Before that I worked part time while running the business, working it and doing the bookwork. I'm working more now, so eventually I can eliminate at least one of the two jobs and later get rid of them both. But, we don't have much saved in an IRA or anything, so it will depend on whether we get enough to pay things with Social Security or not. I'm planning on only having the mortgage and utilities to pay out when the time comes. That means I could be working until I'm seventy, which I'm not happy about, but resigned to the possibility. Unless, one of our employees gets to the place where he works like we do and I can trust he'll put his energy into maintaining our level of expertise when working alone later on.

Only ever buy a paper in Sunday, when there is time to read some of it... And for the TV guide for the week. Book's: Kindle, but I still have lots of "real" books...

Yeh, for things like news I tend to prefer to read online-it's just more simple for me and has less clutter. As well things online tend to move faster then in print. But for books, I still prefer actual books.

I used to like holding a book in my hands, but since I occasionally have a tendinitis flare up, reading on a screen is much easier.

Yep, I don't believe I've been near a newspaper in years. And I think it's been around 2 years since I've been near cable news. Online is fine for me. I even make it a point to tweet and otherwise share stories I find interesting.

The news are mostly depressing these days like the old days, it is not often that we hear some positive stuff in the news.

If it's the news, it's always on my computer, online. If it's novels, either way (online, offline, whatever) for me as long as I can read them. lol. I mostly pick what I read too. So I guess the mode of reading will have to depend on what position I'm in, example: am I in the kitchen? My room? At the toilet? Ehem. Well, you got the idea? lol

I honestly don't do either, I watch the news but I prefer the printed paper, maybe because I used to work for a newspaper.

I find it more comfortable for me to read the papers than the online news. I can read almost the all paper than the news online which is hard to read for long because of a the light of the screen effect. But most of the time I don't buy newspapers. What is better for the inviornment, I don't know.

I agree. Most of what I read is online. I always fall asleep for some reason when I read a book.
