Thanksgiving Weekend Draws to an End with Rough Weather for Millions

According to the news, on Sunday there will be approximately 20,000,000 Americans traveling more than 50 miles to return home after their Thanksgiving holiday.
Since I do the weather forecast for an online newspaper called The Daily Voice News, I noticed that there will be snow in the Rocky Mountains, ice in parts of Texas, Oklahoma and southern Missouri, and rain in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and surrounding areas.
This is going to make the trip home miserable for millions of people.
Will you be affected, or do you live in an area where the weather will be pleasant for the next couple of days?
Whatever the case, I hope all the MyLot people get home safely!

I was in Oklahoma to start the day. The freezing rain made the trees break and limbs fall. We traveled in mixed rain, snow and ice. It is nice to be home.

I did not travel for Thanksgiving. My parents are ten minutes down the road from me. I will go to Georgia December 13th to celebrate Christmas with my step daughter and her husband.

I think you are very lucky to have your parents so close that you do not have to travel far to see them!

I stayed home. I used to drive pretty far for Thanksgiving, but no more. It is just too hard.

Yes, travel over Thanksgiving weekend can be crazy ... for a lot of reasons besides the weather!

@Marcyaz A one hour drive turns into a four or five hour trip no matter the route. It is exhausting, especially if you are driving alone.

there is a sudden change of climate here. my place is noted to have the hottest during summer; now, with cold wind in the wee hours of the morning, my place is second in coolest, after the summer capital (Baguio).

@DeborahDiane The rain itself isn't that bad but the air is chilly and windy which makes it feel even colder than it really is.

I don't travel very far for any reason after October. The roads are just too chancy. I do take my husband to and from a bus stop 5 days a week. This coming week we may have freezing fog and worse. I am not delighted and for sure am not laughing.

@DeborahDiane I hadn't thought or heard of freezing fog until I moved to this east side of the state.

Until recently, I never heard of freezing fog. That must be dreadful to deal with.

My daughter made the trip to and from Portland alright. It was quite cold, in the 20s here every night for the last several days, but stayed dry, so we had no ice.

I think that nearly everyone was able to travel with few problems. Sadly, a few people did die because of the bad weather in Texas!

I wish people would drive more carefully in bad weather. Most people do, but there are always a few who are careless.
