Hello everyone
In a city like New Delhi, winter has its own charm because we Delhites face scorching summer months so winter is always welcomed here.
We get an opportunity to enjoy hot soups, leafy vegetables like Mustard spinach, fenugreek leaves, raddish and turnip etc. which are generally not available during summer months.
Doctors advice that we should stick to hot beverages and hot food during winters. Many do not like to take cold drinks, cold beverages and cold food (e.g. curd etc.) And fried snacks in the evening during winters. Do you take cold drinks, ice cream and fried snacks during winter months, specially when if you face winters in your city.
Have a nice day.

We need to avoid cold food during winters. It is great that on your part of the world you don't face extreme winter.
Do you enjoy eating ice cream in the winter?

Ice cream? I can have that any day and there are no plans ever around to avoid them. I normally avoid a food only if I know it will make things bad for me (especially the Ulcerative Colitis).
Technically, there are some fruits that I always avoid. Some of those eatables with lots of oil and even those "masala" stuff including chillies. But these are the rules for me all through the year.
Ice creams and cold coffee are best during winters. Try them, you may just love them more. Okay, I agree, here at Bhubaneswar, we dont have as chilly winters as you Delhites .

I can understand that you are fond of ice cream. As far as I know, there is no winter season in Bhubaneswar, as we experience here at New Delhi. In Bhubaneswar I doubt if people wear pullovers etc. during December/January months.
Yes, you are right that it is better to avoid food which is fried and have lots of chillies and other condiments in it.
I can take ice cream but not cold coffee during winter months.

@thesids - Yes, If you have spent winters here in New Delhi, you could well compare it the winter season of Bhubaneswar. You are right that Allahabad and Kanpur get even colder during winters and the one who is not used to this kind of weather, feels uncomfortable during winters.
Now you could use your heavy woollens, if you happen to visit any of the North Indian cities during winters.

@dpk262006 Yes, people do wear pullovers and even those heavy jackets (but at the end side, these are not as warm or as woollen laded when you compare them with what they use at Delhi).
I was at Delhi working for a Call Support (and it was then that I had spent a winter at Delhi. On other instances, it always would never exceed 5-7 days stay and we would avoid winters). Allahabad, Kanpur are the other two spine chilling areas when I was the Systems Incharge Lab Instructor at the MotiLal Nehru Engg College and I spend 3 winters there (2 at Allahabad and 1 at Kanpur). The wollens that I had purchased back then are almost of no use here at Bhubaneswar just because they are so very woolen and warming

Chilly Cold at your place?
In which part of the city do you stay?
I also stay in New Delhi, but the weather has not turned chilly, it is still moderate.
One can have ice cream during this time, without any problem.
I think sugarcane juice (if taken without ice) during winter, does not make harm to our body.

Although the stereotypical idea of an English person is that they drink tea all day well I am about to shatter that myth. I don't drink tea but I drink coffee all day long.

@JudyEv - I feel that coffee makes you awake instead of helping you to feel sleepy. I've heard many students who are preparing for their exams take coffee at night to keep them awake.
You could give it a try by not taking coffee for one or two days and could find out, whether it helps you feel sleep better.

Yes, there are tea lovers all over the world and in comparison there are less fans of coffee. It is interesting that you like to take coffee instead of tea during winters.
PS - India is third largest tea exporter in the world.

I heard that in Japan, they have ice cream when the winter is freezing.
I do not know the logic of doing that, but the last thing I want in winter is ice cream.
Anyway, there is no winter in my country.
December is a month of monsoon rain, and I think we can expect a lot more rainy afternoons.
I just hope that I do not get wet on the way to work.

I do not have any idea if Japanese are crazy for ice cream during winter months.
There is no user (whom I have across here) who could confirm about your statement.
You too are fond of ice cream like our other friends here.
Singapore has moderate weather and you do not get to experience winters as we do here in New Delhi.
Heavy rain could disrupt life during moonsoon.

Yes, we people fall in the same category. It is always better for our health to take hot stuff in the winter. Cold drinks or ice cream etc. could do more harm than good to our health. It is also advisable to minimise intake of fried snacks in the evenings during winters because generally people remain indoors during evenings/nights.

It is always good to take salads, irrespective of weather. In summers here we have cucumbers, tomatoes and onions etc. which we are eaten raw in salad. However, in winters here we could enjoy radish, carrots, tomatoes and beetroot in salad.

It is better to avoid desserts and fried food during winters, specially during evenings, as it takes time to digest and its affects our digestive system.
