Wet and Windy

As we are off to see Santa today I was hoping for a bit more Christmasy weather, not necessarily snow but a nice bright frosty day would have done. However instead we have a horrible wet and windy day, not Christmasy at all. I would love to have a bit of snow this year so I can make snow men with my little boy, the last decent amount of snow we had was when he was a baby 3 years ago. We don't really get much snow here so hoping for a bit this year.
Do you get much snow where you live?

@k270585 Last year was my first Christmas here in Florida and I did miss the snow for awhile but did not miss the traveling in all the traffic in the northeast of the USA and dealing with all the crazy people that insisted on driving in it and had no idea of how to drive in it. It can be very hazardous.

Did not have much last year but have had a few inches already this year and we are supposed to have some snow tomorrow, we will see if we do or not. Hopefully by Christmas you will have some and then you and your child can go out and play in it.

We rarely get snow. We got a good snow about 8 years ago. I would like a bit this year.

@k270585 My son was a baby too, and the youngest not even born at the time. I say we put in for a nice one this year.

When I was very young, we used to get a lot. I loved it. We had one blizzard that literally covered the back of our house and we had to use our front door for the first time. My dad couldn't get home from work and even plows couldn't get down the road to clear them. For me, it was an adventure. It was almost as deep as I was tall. But, since the mid 60s, we haven't had it nearly as much with a few exceptions along the way (1996 and some time in the 2000s). Yet, there are people on the lower hemisphere who have summer at Christmas and winter in June. It depends on you more than anything.

@ramapo17 I hate the heat and humidity of summer. I can only imagine how I'd be in Florida during the summer. I can totally understand the 'snowbird' concept. I went to school with Zinks in Gloucester County. Is your husband from that area?

I live in Texas but the southern part but since it has been windy, rainy and cold almost everyday for the past week, i'm thinking we might get like the northern part is getting snow.

@k270585 Nor do I. A few years ago I slipped on the back door step and cut my hand open. The weather was so bad , all the roads were blocked. So I treated it myself. About a week later when the snow had cleared I went to the doctors and he said I should have called an ambulance. He said I was extremely lucky not have an infection in it. They put it all over the news that the hospitals were jammed up with people falling over and the ambulances were working flat out. I just said next time I will .

Some winters we have gone completely snow free except for a light flurry or two that never stuck to the ground. Last winter, though, we got hammered and wound up closing school on two occasions, making us miss 9 days we had to make up later.

@DWDavis I am from the northeast so I know what you are talking about. My grandchildren missed a lot of school as they live in northwest New Jersey on the border of Pennsylvania. My husband and I moved out of there a year ago and are now in Florida. I miss the winters up there and cannot get use to the sun 12 months a year. I loved the white stuff. The fireplace on and staying home, until we had to go out and plow.

@ElicBxn what part of New Jersey are your folks from. I was born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey which is in the northern part, 45 minutes from New York and 1/2 hour from Giant Stadium where the Giants and Jets play. I moved to Pennsylvania after both of my kids were in college and then to Florida last year.

We live in plains and we do not get any snow in our city. We also wish to make a snowman like you because it looks so cute, but we just cannot do it. We make ourselves happy just by seeing pictures of snow.

I guess you are not in the northeast. They had enough snow last year to last a life time. We moved out of there to Florida right in time. I love the snow but we are getting to old to shovel it any more. We had our fun with it when we were younger but now we like the sand and sun.

Well, actually I have never seen snow in my life. Since I live in Vietnam, most of the time i live in the middle part of Vietnam, then i can stand the hot weather up to 45 sometimes 48 C degree. In vietnam there has only one place has been snowing before, but very small like little tiny snow only. However, to tell the truth, i dont wish to see snow in Sa Pa Vietnam, cuz if snow falls down that means a lot of vietnamese children will be in very cold weather but without enough warm clothes. I just wish they can have a better day, this wish may Santa brings to us.
