I know that many of us look forward to celebrating New Years Eve, have a party and generally enjoy ourselves, however, there are many who are unable to celebrate because of varied reasons...Last year I visited an orphanage in my town on the 29th of December to give away some old clothes and other stuff after spring cleaning my house. It is a small place with about 45 children run by Christian missionaries and funded by some churches and local donors .There is also a school attached to it.
While talking to the children I realised that for them it meant nothing at all. Their day remains the same , also the ladies who run the place go through the same routine. So, this year some of us are planning to take some sweets and fruits for the children and spend some time with them on the 31st evening !

I always celebrate New Year's Eve with my close family ^_^ my parents and my sisters. Its what really matter to me to enter in the new year together with the most important people in my life. Hopefully when I have a boyfriend I hope to enter in new year with him too.

There was a time when we used to attend large parties organised by our club and it used to be very noisy affair where everybody was there but had no time for anyone because of the crowd . Now , I prefer smaller family gatherings where you can interact rather than sit mum because of all the noise around you

My two kids and I go to Disney World for a week after Christmas, which means we are always there for New Year's. It's become a tradition on our family to do this every year, and we have been doing it since my daughter was born 16 years ago. So, we spend New Year's Eve together in the Magic Kingdom every year watching their amazing fireworks show at midnight.

@kiran8 I wouldn't change it for the world! I told my kids that, even though they'll eventually grow up and have their own families, I would like our Disney family tradition to continue every year for as long as possible! It's a special time for us.

It is our tradition that on New Year's eve we have some prepared foods . And at the strike of 12 - New Year , my husband and brother-in-law would lit some fireworks while we blow our carton horns to make noise . The neighbors too does that .

We do not celebrate new year eve as well, we just do not have this tradition to celebrate this day. We are happy to welcome a new year, but it can also be just like another day for us. I thought people always celebrate Christmas, but I didn't know about new year eve.
As Chinese, we celebrate Chinese New Year.
It's so nice of you to give something to the needs, the children will be very happy.

Wow, what a noble way to spend the New Year's Eve! The kids will surely jump with joy. I spend New Years Eve with the whole family, we pray together and then eat meal and have some fun.

@kiran8 That's a wonderful idea. And indeed a good lesson for your children to learn. We used to visit an orphanage run by Little Sisters of the Poor and do likewise. It makes our hearts lighter to see that even simple small gifts can make the children so happy.God Bless!
