Favorites at Christmas

Happy Sunday Everyone, It has been a very busy week. Last night our little town had its Santa Claus parade. My grandson loved it! Oh the wonders of being a child at christmas As a child my husbands family did not celebrate Christmas so whenever I start talking about the things I loved about Christmas as a child his eyes seem to gloss over and the subject is quickly changed. But I love the holiday season all except the shopping part. Many stores give me panic attacks. I would have passed out had I been around all those people in the videos I saw of them fighting on Black Friday! That's a bunch of crazy , lost their minds. What is your favorite part of Christmas?

Being a mom I love seeing my children's eyes light up when "Santa" arrives, I also love the music and decorating the tree. =)

@suzzy3 I still think its wonderful to see my kids eyes light up. They are 19, 20 and 22 years old now but still get that look with their Christmas stockings

I love the fun, the Christmas carols, the get-together parties, the exchange gifts, the games, the decorations, but not the excessive commercialism,( I don't join the world in shopping hysteria); and of course I love most the thought that my Savior was born one day to save me and you.

@salonga I agree I'm also not into the hoopla of the shopping. This year I am getting a lot of the kids gifts online for great prices :)

I love the anticipation. We have 10 grands and the youngest is 4 so he still has stars in his eyes. I am sorting through my decorations this weekend.

@BelleStarr Oh my goodness so wonderful for you! I have one grandson and he is 3. I get when you say stars in their eyes. We saw the Santa parade this past weekend and my grandson was like that . All starry eyed. Such a treasure to have.

My favorite part of Christmas while growing up was the anticipation of Christmas' Eve as it was then that we had a big meal after the midnight mass and then it was the gifts opening.

@marlina oh you were blessed. My kids always begged to open gifts on Christmas Eve but I would only let them open one. and leave the rest until Christmas Day

I liked Christmas when I was a kid, the anticipation of the Christmas Eve, the opening of the gifts and the meal all together. Now it's more a stress than a pleasure.

When I was in secondary school there was a boy there and his family were Jehovahs witnesses and did not celebrate Christmas , he always said his parents bought him presents all year round. You could tell by the look in his eyes it made him sad. We used to tone it down when he was around as we felt so sorry for him.

@suzzy3 that must have been so hard for him. Hopefully now that he is grown he enjoys the celebrations of the holidays.

We do not celebrate Christmas. I think there are some people who celebrate Christmas, but these are mainly the Christians. For the rest of us, we enjoy the sales on chocolate, and logcakes.

I love the sharing, the togetherness the decorations and the carols .. I really hate the commercialism attached to the season. I hardly go out shopping.. I haven't yet for this year.
