Are links to other posts (and ours) allowed?

Are we allowed to put a link to a previous post, even if it is one of our own?
Sometimes you might have a follow up on one of your posts. Sometimes you might have a post long enough to be divided into two parts. Other times you may want to give credit to someone for a post idea. Even if you just want to refer people to other posts you have written on a similar topic, it seems fair to be able to do this.
Is this allowed? If so, how does one go about putting in the link?

I could not put also the username of a friend in any of my discussions. Although this was allowed in that sunken bubbling site, I do not know if we can do that here too, so to be safe than sorry, I don't put links on my topics for discussion.
