Hey everyone since Microsoft offered Windows 10 upgrade for free a new Ransomware virus has been released. The Teslacrypt virus was sent to people by email starting in April of this year. The virus is disguised as an email from Microsoft. Many people believed that Microsoft was sending them information about upgrading their computers to Windows 10. However, when they opened the file a ransomware was set lose on your computer.
What does this mean to you?
1. The virus locks and encrypts your files. It will encrypt your word documents, pictures, and other files. These files can no longer be opened.
2. The encrypted files will look like this: name.pdf.ccc or it could be any other file name ending with .ccc.
3. Your original files are deleted off your computer and replaced with these encrypted files.
What can you do?
1. On November 10th Microsoft released a fix for the different ransomware viruses.
2. Go direct to Microsoft download center and search for KB890830
3. Download this update to your computer.
4. Open the update and scan your computer.
The new update removes any malware and Trojans off your operating system. If this doesn’t remove the malware and Trojans you’ll need to download Bitdefender and do a complete scan of your hard drive.
Once the malware and Trojans are removed you can now try and recover your encrypted files. This is tricky and takes some skill. The simplest way is to restore your operating system to an earlier date. Otherwise, you’ll need to use Shadow Explorer to find a shadow copy of your data files.
The easiest way to prevent all these problems is to never to open any emails with Windows 10 offers. Microsoft never sends an email to anyone. You will always have an app icon on your task bar from Microsoft.
Keep your antivirus programs and Windows updates. Let me tell you this is no fun to try and clean out. I have been cleaning out a few people’s computers recently and this new ransomware Trojan is not easy to get rid of.

This is another solution if this one happens. Then you have to take a lot of time to reinstall all of your programs again. A lot of people loose their codes for programs they have paid for and downloaded. They keep their install codes in their email files. They seem to forget to copy and paste them to a note pad and store them in the folder with the install icon. Then it makes it so much easier to load the programs back onto the computer.

It makes me want to find people that make these and string them up. I have zero tolerance for this kind of thing. Actually removing all their fingertips might be more appropriate. If they do it again, take their fingers off.

@poehere It's good to know that it is reversible. I was under the impression from others that it was a locked up mess that couldn't be undone. It doesn't make sense that it couldn't be undone.
Speaking of things that don't make sense... I got into an old computer this year and had access to all my hard drives and then moved it, dislodged the board that gave me access to those drives, then couldn't access the drives again even after getting it reinstalled. They are IDE connections and I got the one to work with a hard drive dock with adapter, but the other one is completely inaccessible no matter what I do. It doesn't make sense that I could access it and then I'm unable to.

@poehere Inaccessible in that the computer never detects it in the first place. Will those steps above lead to it detecting it?
The drive isn't in the computer, it's outside of it in a dock connection.
I used hitman pro and malware antimalware and another program to get rid of something on my parents' computer this year, it was a terrible infection.

Yes agreed and the sad part is that a lot of people pay. Now here is the best one these hackers don't keep track of the keys. So even if they do pay they still can't get back all of their files. Then on top of this one people go searching on the internet for an answer. They are led to these people for advice. When you see what they have you download it adds even more viruses to your hard drive. I have one here right now that is the worst mess of all. This other guy messed with this for over a week and locked up even more files than what were originally locked. Then he downloaded a lot of the programs from these bogus people and added even more virus on the hard rive. Right now this hard drive is a total mess.

I didn't receive that email or else it went to my spam folder, besides which I never open an email if the senders address does not look like a legit microsoft address.

The problem is - it does look like a Microsoft document. I saw one come to me and I know for a fact it has come to a lot of people. I found all the fake emails on their computers. I examined it and it looks legitimate and that is why people have opened it up.

I will be adding to this today. This is only one part of this and there is a lot more that goes with it. I selected this email to start with. There is a lot more people will need to know to protect themselves because in just a few days all the emails will start being sent out. It's because of the holidays.

This is not it. I totally explained this to you. This malware comes in an email. Not a popup on your computer. You will not be infected with this virus unless you open an email.
I have been using 10 for way over a year. There is no bugs in it like some say. There is a small issue with Microsoft Edge but that one can be easily fixed with Chrome or going back to IE. It gives you this choice,
This virus comes to you in an email. Second this virus doesn't come to you by Microsoft. it comes to you by downloading 3rd party software from an unknown site.

You so welcome. I will be adding one more shortly about the Christmas virus and what to look for. This is a new stain of Ransomware that will totally lock all of your computer up and infect it completely. So stay turned for a list of emails to never open this month.

This is one of the major ways. You don't need to download anything. Just opening the email will put this on your computer. Now some people package this with downloads and they are from good companies who offer them. Their websites are hacked and they have no idea. This come bundled in a lot of package right now and it's not so easy to get off.
