Is it already too late to save the world?

This year's COP21 in Paris aims at making 195 countries agree on how to deal with the issue of climate change. As mammoth a task that is, does it really matter anymore what the nations agree upon? Here are a few facts:
2 degrees centigrade is the agreed 'gateway' to dangerous global warming.
A rise of 4.5°C is expected by the end of this century based on almost 10,000 gigatons (Gt, or billion tons) of CO2 that will be emitted.
As per estimates, the agreement to be reached in Paris would cut temperatures in 2100 by just 0.05° Celsius.
Many would argue that the Paris Summit is at the least a step in the correct direction. My question is - is it enough?

I think it will never be late to do something good for our environment. At least it is better than doing nothing. In fact I already pay attention to my life. I try to use less energy, paper and so on. I will use more environmental products.

@casarthak We have the similar quote here. Let's do our own efforts for the earth and sooner or later it will have a good effect on our planet.

I believe in the famous Indian quote - "The sea is made from many drops of water". So each one of us contributing to save the environment will help in our own insignificant way. And each insignificant contribution will aggregate to a significant change. I just wish there was more awareness and we did more to save our planet.

Most likely not enough. A step in the better direction or at least so cooperation amount nations is better than ignoring the problem. Either way the problems will materialize on their own. Perhaps just the idea of having summits will pave the way for more aggressive solutions or decisions?

I hope the summit bring about that required change in attitude. Because I would like to leave earth the same way I inherited it if not better.

@casarthak I don't think it will ever stay the same - a quote from George the dinosaur but I like how you said if not better. Now that is great idea. Much greater than the selfish who ruin mother earth and steal, then move on.

ugh, it is hard question but you see, it's the question only a pessimist would ask. instead of asking if it is too late, why don't we start make the change to save the world instead? I don't know if it will save the world, but I already reduced plastic usage of mine. if I have to use plastic bags, instead of make it as one used, I use the same plastic bag over and over. Plastic bottle that comes from bottled water I use as container of my stuff. I planted tree, fruition trees though. I still have them on the small area in front of my house. it is hotter nowadays indeed but at least not killingly hot in my area at least. never told my bros to do the same though but my family members now have their own tree even though they don't plant theirs from the seed but instead bought the already grown ones. so I guess that's going nice for me.

@casarthak actually when I read the headline I was like "to save from what?" as you probably have known, the world now is really chaotic. I can't do anything regarding crime and terrorism as my country is now under prejudiced to harbour such things. it is silly but it's true that we are under such prejudice. duh. anyway, indeed the heading sold me. hahaha
acutally people are aware of the changing to the worse of the world, but some can stand it and some other has luxury to just ignore it. for me, actually what I did wasn't because my concern about the climate change, it was more because I like, if I could, produce my own food, and to make myself feel better. you know, plastics trash only makes your home looks like a mess.

The entire purpose of the discussion is that more awareness is created and good people such as you join and spread the cause.
Where you might find the heading pessimistic, the article body is only fact driven and thought provoking. Also you cant argue to the fact that a sensationalized heading sells more

@casarthak no, but even considering the fact that we are harming this planet in an irreversible manner is a very giant leap for mankind when mostly they spent their time fighting about "my god is the strongest"

Answer to your question is definitely no. Everyone of us have to do some thing about it.
It's never late to do some good work. But the question is how.

I feel we have already started doing our bit.. But the maximum change that can come is though government efforts. I hope China and US agree to reduce their carbon emissions this COP.
