My former husband was so cheap. How cheap was he?

I'll tell you how cheap he was. When he got out of the Navy we purchased two cemetery plots. His was paid for with his Government benefit of $200. My plot cost the 'regular' going price at the time. Since I had the deed in my possession when we split up he didn't even remember it.
Fast forward many years.....
When my current husband and were married I wanted to have those two plots transferred from my former to my current husband. To achieve that my x has to sign a document approving it.
I called him at work and told him what my goal was and he didn't reply. I knew at that point he was holding out for money. So, being the nice former wife I told him I would pay him the $200 that he feels he lost. The cheap 'you know what' said, good, send me a check and I'll sign the document.
He was making a very good living at the Wall Street Journal and he wasn't in any kind of desperate need of that $200. I think he just wanted to have the last word that one time.

That is terrible that he was just being spiteful when he didn't even need the money... I hate when people act that way for no good reason.

@AbbyGreenhill Good excuse-not. As you said $200 is not going to do much when it comes to college!

His former sister in law told me he was saving for the kids' college education - like $200 was going to cover it!

Yes, he sure was. It's funny, I see photos of him on FB and I have a hard time remembering I was married to him!

@abbygreenhill That's simply unbelievable and unacceptable. How could anyone, most certainly your former hubby, stoop so low is beyond my understanding. Perhaps, he wanted to get back at you for replacing him with someone else. So sorry.

@Gabugs Oh no, he got his girlfriend preg. and they got married the day after our divorce so he certainly didn't care about me.

Definitely. When we got back from living in Hawaii 2 years I was rather heavy and my marriage wasn't great and I started with stomach issues and wen from 200 to 120 rather fast. He didn't like me thin - he wanted me to gain the weight back.

I don't know what he had to be spiteful about - I didn't ask for alimony or any kind of support from him -

@AbbyGreenhill Some exes are spiteful without reason just to be mean. My ex is like that.

Okay, after reading the comments I'll probably get stoned here. But it is/was his plot, why shouldn't he sell it? Doesn't matter how much or how little money he has or what his plans are.

I'm actually wondering, too, why he'd sell it. I was thinking that he might have wanted to keep it that's why he didn't reply right away. But I know it must be weird to have his plot side by side with yours @AbbyGreenhill . You're right, he didn't need that money, but since you insisted he just wanted something from you to get even with you. Oh well.

@yalul070 We bought two plots next to my parents two plots, that's the last place he'd want to be put..I'm sure his current wife wouldn't like that much. We moved from that area and sold the two plots back to the cemetery.

Sell it to his former wife...come on that's cheap. He cheated on me with a girl from his office and she was preg. and they got married the day after our divorce...so did he deserve the $200???
