A dollar spent on unnecessary thing is a dollar wasted

Some people just do not know the value of money. Money is money regardless of a dollar or ten million dollars. That means a dollar is as valuable as ten million dollars. If you do not value a dollar, you will not value ten million dollars. If you spend a dollar on unnecessary things, and do not regret the decision, you will do the same thing when you have a few million dollars to spend. A person who values money will get to keep the money. That is why many people make money but not everyone keeps money. A dollar spent on unnecessary thing is a dollar wasted. That is why you should learn to treasure every single cent you make.

Money is for spending. If you have money but you don't spend, what's the point of having money but of course, you have to spend on things that can make you more money, if it's possible like you buy a laptop or a computer and you can start to earn money online. And that is the function of money; to be spent.

Do not forget that we have at least 20 years of retirement to spend the money. That is the time when medical checkups and medication cost a bomb! That is why the Chinese household in China are saving 50% of their income. When you do not have government to pay for you, you only have your savings to last through retirement.

@scheng1 That is true. The older you grow, the more you may need medical attention which can be quite costly.

The value of money changes as we grow older. it is not just the value of money in our mind. The price of things increases all the time, and today I think you cannot buy a meal with 1 rs anymore. In the future, you may not even buy a meal with 100 rs.

I agree with you. This is why today I become to be practical when I am shopping for both online or offline. We don't have to buy something that are not necessary even if they are not expensive at all.

Sometimes I think living in a city and living in a small apartment is good for us. When our place is so small, there is no temptation to buy too many things. We just do not have the storage for it.

@scheng1 I am not so sure to it. It seems people always can find more room to store things

That is true. Some people just don't value money, and think that it just grows on tree. However, that is not the case. There have been times when I have bought a thing or two, which I did not need, but I still try to be careful with the money I have.

@dodo19 Usually a person will start to get worried about retirement when he is near to retirement age. All of us can expect to live 20 or more years in retirement. Scary to think of 20 years of expenses without income.

At least your kids make you think about the future. If possible, buy insurance for yourself. If you lose the ability to work at least the insurance will pay out and you can still support the family.

That is true. Don't buy anything you don't need, just because it is cheap. I would rather buy costly things that I really need.

Yes, that is the right way to live. Cheap is not always good, and when we buy because things are cheap, we are simply wasting money. It is better to save up to buy quality item that we really need, and can use for a long time.
