MMM M&M'S

"A house divided against itself cannot stand." - Abraham Lincoln June 16, 1858, Illinois State Capitol upon accepting the Illinois Republican Party's nomination as that state's United States senator. -Just another off the top of my head commentary opinion formed in my head needing a release. I hope it makes sense and that I explained it as clear as can be.- I was in a party supply store that had M&M's separated by color. I thought, "What an appropriate inadvertent example of symbolism or commentary as to where the direction of Americas' ethics is heading towards when it comes to modern society. After years of people fighting to live under one classification, one generalization to describe every American as a unified society of one race, one color, one ideal. Very slowly iv'e seen this very society start to pull away and classify itself as anything but American. It is all about abandoning your naturalized citizenship in favor of your ancestral roots. By doing so it's become an embarrassment of sorts to declare you're an American. Problems are not looked at as right or wrong, law abiding or unlawful. Everyone seems to want to stress the color of ones skin, economic status and ethnicity as the major contributing factors as to why something happened. Some people even want to go back to the days of ethnically diverse schools, colored and non-colored water drinking fountain days appear to be starting to slowly creep back into reality. Society, like the M&M's, is slowly being separated by color once more to please some askewed view of individuality not based on a persons' character, but by a persons outer skin tone. Not one of the M&Ms' colors has a better or different taste from one another, they all taste the same inside underneath the colored shell. No one should ever have to stand out because of outer appearance, but rather stand out because of the character that resides inside.

Very well said. I haven't seen those M&Ms. Good example.

@Plethos It's a common saying. I didn't realize it was attributed to the Three Stooges. However, I agree. Whenever we seem to make a stride forward, we end up going in reverse.

@just4him far as i know the saying was in a lot of skits by the vaudeville acts of the early 1900's or so, i just remember hearing it in a 3 stooges film short first.

im starting to think the three stooges had it right when they said, "one step forward, two steps back" in one of their skits.

There may be more purpose separating M&M's than there is separating people. A certain color may go with certain party decor. It does not hold true for humans. All one family, even when different parties.

crazy to separate the colours - saw it referenced as a joke in one of the Wayne's World movies - had no idea anyone actually did it.

I once said that I disliked all the ethnic month designations. When asked why, I said I supported the decision of the Supreme Court in Brown vs The Biard of Education.
