The Hair Stood Up On The Back Of My Neck

I mentioned in a comment the other day on a post by @Nameless that I have had some psychic experiences. And no, I'm not a psychic.
I was 8 when the phone rang and a funny feeling came over me and I knew my grandmother had died (she wasn't sick) I heard my mother call my father and then heard him crying. I realized I had a gift but it scared me to death and I thought I was crazy until I realized a couple of years later it is a gift and a curse.
A gift once you accept the fact that you have it, because often you are warned ahead of time that something awful is coming up, While in College I missed a car accident because I knew it was going to happen and I didn't go. I warned my friends and they thought I was crazy so it didn't stop them. Fortunately no one was hurt but the car was stuck on a train track was smashed to smithereens.
It's a gift if you pay attention to it. Its a curse if your friend's think you're crazy...
Years ago when we were newlyweds hubby and I were out having dinner and a man walked by. My husband ask him to join us and he did long enough to have a drink with us.
When he left he shook my hand and the hair on my neck stood straight up.
My husband and I knew each other for a long time before we got married and he knew I had psychic moments, but nothing earth shaking.
When the guy left I asked my husband about him – no one special someone met on the golf course and hubby asked why? I told him. I also said I didn't want anything to do with that man, there was something wrong with him but I didn't know what.
I never saw him again and about a year later my husband came home and told me that guy was in jail. I don't remember the details or what he did but he was going to be in jail for a long time. (I've been known to block bad memories)
Do you know who's going to be on the phone before you look? Do you know when one of your kids is in trouble before they tell you? If you pay attention to your feelings, you could be like me:
Crazy or a little bit psychic.

Intuition. That's what that is. That gut feeling. We all have it, but some are more sensitive to it than others. I get that way also. My girlfriend gets mad at me because everything I say always comes true. She don't understand it and neither do I. For me, it is just being normal.

I'm not sure it is normal but it might be. I think a lot of people are good with intuition, I know I am. There is nothing wrong about knowing things, when I get those messages they come with a feeling I can't discribe like a dizzy feeling but more.

I think you're right and that it is normal but like all talents some are good at it naturally while others are good through training and others just don't bother. @inertia4

@PainsOnSlate I don't get dizzy, but I know it's a gut feeling. I know what will happen. I cannot explain it though.

I say the same thing about myself Camp, that I am not psychic. I can sympathize with your being scared. I don't know about you but when I was little I had no one who could explain these things to me. I think somewhere in my head I thought it was perfectly natural and everyone knew what I did.
When I was 16 I saw something that scared me so bad I spent years totally avoiding my gift. Today, I wish I hadn't done that. I wish too someone could tell me what it was I saw. I mean, I know what I was looking at, I just have no interpretation of it.

@sugartoes That was an interesting story. And a difficult time for you. I hope life is treating you better now. I rarely have those feelings anymore, the older I get the less they show up. Life goes on and I love every day of it.

@Namelesss Knowing about deaths before anyone gave me the creeps but I grew to accept it, It happened while I was painting one day - the feeling dizzy, the way I felt but no idea who...that was a first so I worried about my dad and phoned him. I was so relieved he answered...never did figure out why I had the feeling and no message. Now that I think about it, it was the last time.

I used to think I had psychic moments.. I would have a song running through my head, one that might be old and not played much anymore, then I turn on the radio and that song is playing. Things like that.
But either I don't pay attention to what my feelings are telling me, or I can't sort it all out. I have severe anxiety on top of that... so I almost always think something bad is about to happen even when it's not. I don't have much clarity.
I am the type who can just dislike someone for no reason what so ever. They don't have to say a word to me, or even look at me, I just decide i don't like them.

@PainsOnSlate Really? I wonder why that is - i would have thought that the closer you get to the next life, the more you would see

@jaboUK it's just the nature of whatever is behind it. I think when we are younger we are more aware. With age we get complacent, because we can...

Its just a way of the world in my life, not so much as I age, the older I get the less I see of it.

It certainly is, I've been there and done that. Not always happy when it happens but it is part of my life.

No never knew who would be on the phone but I always had some sort of sick feeling in my stomach and my heart raced when I knew some bad would happen. I think this is just a normal feeling of anxiety or something when you just have that sick feeling something will happen and it does.

@PainsOnSlate Some people are extra sensitive to their surrounding and can predict things from different feeling they have. I know a lot of people don't like this and others like you don't know why but it just happens. I can feel if a person is a good person or a bad one. So I guess in a lot of ways this is a good thing to have and one to not be scared of.

I have feelings sometimes about things, but the one thing i love is always knowing what baby someone is going to have before they find out..i get dreams of the child...3 years ago my oldest Son's child was due in April but i told him it would be born on Christmas day..he said .no Mom that would make him a preemie..Dalton was born at 1 pound and yes a small preemie but i knew he'd be fine..and this year will be 3 years Christmas day..

I don't think your are crazy or psychic, but just aware of your instincts. Many people seem to ignore those inner thoughts warning them, alerting them of something.

Yes, when I think of a friend, I will get a message or a call from them. When I dream someone is going to phone and invite me somewhere, then they do. I dreamt my friend was talking to me about a car and woke up to a message on my phone saying she had car problems. All of it unsettles me.

Don't let it bother you, it is a gift. I was worried when it started when I was very young but grew to enjoy it.

Yes, I think we all are psychic, but not conscious of it. The messages we get are often subtle, and later we remember that our impression was correct. Paying attention to the "nature" of people and situations can help us tune into them, and it gets better with practice. I often get "stuff" that I have no idea how I got it. Often, I don't "read" it right, either.

well, you have the gift, Ma'am. I had peripheral vision and third eye but I chose to ignore both.

I don't get anything that I'd class as a psychic ability but sometimes I'll get an inkling that something is going to happen before it does (and not always very obvious ones)

It's the same thing I get, but if aware you can know more. I am not a psychic, I know a psychic and our brains don't work the same way.
