Terrorist attack in San Bernadino CA today?

I just heard on the news that masked gunmen attacked a Center that serves developmentally disabled individuals in San Bernadino CA. San Bernadino is East of Los Angeles. Apparently the gunmen had AK-47-type assault rifles and shot at least 20 people. Some reports say three are dead. Other reports say as many as 12 are dead. The gunmen left the scene in a black SUV. They left behind some kind of "device" that may or may not be a bomb. Why would anyone conduct an attack like this on a Center that serves developmentally disabled people? It makes no sense. As of now, nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the gunmen are still at large.

None of these attacks make any sense. Sensible people do not own assault rifles. The test should be...do you want an assault rifles? If so, you are too unstable to own one.

@norcal The descriptions of the gunfire from people I've heard interviewed suggest automatic weapons.

@TheHorse And who wants that kind of weaponry? No one sane.

@norcal They had to hold many bullets to shoot so many people at a time. Only monsters want such weapons.

Tomorrow there may be more news as it is ongoing with the whole area on lock down. Even that black suv they weren't sure if it was shooters or someone fleeing the scene. It is going to be so sad for the victims families tonight. At the end of the day that is what it is always about. Just someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. Someone like you or me just going about our life.

The main reason is simply publicity, so the specific target was not relevant as long as they made the news.

We have no idea who did this. I heard that workers at the Center may not have been the targets. But then who was?

Which is why the names and pictures of the criminals should never be shown.

@ElizabethWallace I totally agree. The news reporters will print or transmit anything to boost circulation and do not think twice about making celebrities out of such people.

The FBI agent I heard interviewed said he did not know whether it was a "terrorist attack," but to me, and random mass-shooting is a terrorist attack. We just don't know yet who is responsible.

I have read this morning that ISIS has created a hashtag America_Burning to praise the San Bernardino shooting. I hope it's not a beginning.

Truly tragic and insane. There is no conceivable reason why anyone would want to kill anyone for any reason.

Looks like the whole mankind is becoming more and more violent and unwilling to listen to logical arguments and be patient and kind. I believe that this is a big moral failure of our global system, and also a result of International diplomacy which is sabotaged by just a few wealthy individuals who care less for people and more for their own narrow interests.

I can think of reasons why someone would want to kill another individual. But not why someone would want to slaughter social service workers.

@TheHorse No matter which way I look at it, I can't find a valid reason for killing another person.

They weren't targeting the disabled people. They were targeting the co-workers of one of the perps. Nobody knows why yet.

The IRC facility is sometimes used by other county departments. This time, the county health department rented one of the buildings for their holiday program.

i think the killers used "terrorism" as a disguise for this shooting. shooters were trying to impress the terrorist groups. watching the news i kept thinking about all the times i used to drive down that road when i lived in san bernardino.

@TheHorse - a little of both. fellow co-workers were used to be made an example of and used terroism as the excuse to justify their action.

@TheHorse here in Israel - terrorists just go around stabbing people . It does not matter whether they are young or old, male or female. It is just their pleasure - some wicked culture or belief they are getting reward somewhere.

Of course we now know who the shooters were, and the victims. I guess it will take longer to figure out motive, although the man was talking to people on a FBI watch list.

@TheHorse The male shooter - one of the reports was that the investigation turned up some sort of communication with known people of interest (potential terrorism related) or some such thing. I don't recall the exact verbiage.
