They are finally on the shelves, those small cinnamon flavored chocolate, that are only available during the Christmas holidays. I buy at least one box every year, dark chocolate with a hint of cinnamon, perfect for the holidays. My favorite brand is Frey, a very old Swiss company that still produce chocolate as in the old days, using organic products and no preservatives. Lindt makes the same kind of chocolate and they are excellent too. My intention was to open the box for Christmas, but I wanted to share a photo with you. I believe I will have to buy another box for Christmas, this one will not last. Do you have specialty chocolates that you like to buy for the holidays?

The main criterion by which I select chocolate is quantity.

@LadyDuck I check to see how much chocolate there is. As I quoted above, my main interest is in quantity.

I do the same, first I check the labels to see if there are ingredients that should not be there, then I decide.

I like the cinnamon idea but I don't care that much for milk chocolate..plus I don't think we can buy that here. I ordered from See's Candies, should be here early next week.

It's dark chocolate, it's not milk, it looks lighter in my photo. I do not like milk chocolate.

That must taste really good! We have no such brand here. I love dark chocolates, any brand will do but I prefer those with almonds. I also love Ferrero Rocher.

I like dark chocolate with almonds, Lind makes something good. I cannot say that I like the Italian Ferrero.

@salonga When I did a search I found Frey chocolate available at both Amazon and E Bay. I know some import stores nearby I may check with. I did not see the one with cinnamon, though.

Once a box or packet of chocolate is opened it doesn't last long with me either. I've never heard of the ones you are talking about here, I'll keep an eye open for them.

Janet sadly once the packets are opened they only last a few days , even if I am trying to refrain. I know that Lindt is available in almost every country in the world, but I am not sure that some special chocolates are made outside Switzerland.

@Inlemay I will not say that they are the best because I do not want to be thrown out of this country... let's say Teuscher in Zürich.

Yes, there is/was a brand called Ceres. They are chocolate covered cherries only sold at this time of year and traditional. Harder to find them every year. So Sad.

Chocolate covered cherries of course. I am wondering if we can get that at Aldi, if not, I may look online as it sounds wonderful.

My husband will buy me a box of turtles, but I don't really like them that much, they are really rich with the carmel in them. I do enjoy Laura Secord dark chocolate bark, and will buy a box of that every few years. But I don't need the calories so I don't buy it every year.

I avoid filled chocolates, too many calories, I like dark chocolate and the hint of cinnamon inside adds an interesting taste, served with a Christmas eggnog are perfect.

They do, indeed, look very special. I haven't seen any cinnamon flavoured chocolate in England but I'm sure that's more because I don't normally look for it than because it isn't available.

I like to have a couple in the evening with a hot cocoa. There are many special chocolates for Christmas, but most of them are filled chocolates and I prefer plain chocolate.

I have tasted several Frey bars and they were delicious. The problem is that it is not sold here. I bought it myself (together with Lindt) in Winterthur supermarket once. Milka and Nestle are quite tasty here among other brands and i prefer buying them for me or for present

Love the photo layout. That sounds especially lovely. I think I need to add to my bucket list to visit Switzerland just to come buy holiday chocolate and then maybe hop around Europe to visit the Christmas markets in Germany. I think you need to go out and count down Christmas for us with a new chocolate share everyday :D
