We got more rain today in Northern California!

This time the weather people were right. I was suspicious when I saw sunshine this morning. But we had a nice moderate rain here in the San Francisco Bay Are today. It lasted from late morning through the early afternoon. We've had about five moderate rains in the past month or so. It's a perfect way to prepare the ground for the El Nino rains we're expecting this Winter. Maybe I'll even be able to get a garden going this Spring. How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Hi Bay Area! There is not a drop down here in LA - in fact it was rather warm today. I sure hope that rain is coming by this way - I'm waiting for it - but no sign of it thus far!!

@much2say I'll try to send a bit South. They say we might have some more showers tonight, but I'm not counting on it.

It has been rainy lately here in North Texas. We have broken the record and are now having the wettest year in history. Texas is rather flat in this area and we have flooding issues when it rains too much at once. Last spring brought wide spreed flooding and we are still experiencing some effects from it at this time in December.

@TheHorse I'm in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Most would consider Lubbock west Texas.

Wow. Flooding would be a pain. Where in North Texas are you? I've visited Lubbock. Is that considered North Texas?

@nanette64 That's what I was thinking. They really need it down South. We've had a few rains here in the North of California.

It's finally cooling off here in the North Carolina mountains. We've been lucky so far though we did get a lot of rain a few days ago. I'm just glad it wasn't snow.

@TheHorse No it doesn't but that is island life south of he equator. that is how it is here this time of year. But what is wonderful is that we have skiing all year round. When it's summer around here we can go to the US or Europe to go skiing. Then when it's summer there we can go to NZ to go skiing. So I guess we have the best of all worlds being in this part of the ocean.

Today was unseasonably cool with a sprinkle of rain. Our Writers' Group had their Christmas luncheon with a 'beach' theme but most of us had cardigans on.

Thank you so much! I've planted some snow peas for the Winter. We'll see if they survive. I read somewhere that they're "frost tolerant."

We've had rain off an on over the last few weeks, @TheHorse ... Which is normal for Missouri. We actually had a little more rain than normal this last summer, even though the NWS claims we have had the next to the driest year here in Missouri... If that were true though, the lakes around here would have been below average instead of well above their high water marks! We have been warmer here for longer than normal. I was still wearing shorts and sandals up until two weeks ago... That isn't normal! I have heard that the first half of the winter California is supposed to get a lot of rain and then nothing for the last half... I hope that is wrong! You guys need to more water to pull out of that drought!

Strange that the NWS data conflict with what locals are actually experiencing. I hadn't heard about to "front loading" here in CA. I thought El Nino was generally active from January through March. We shall see.

@TheHorse We have not a bad pollution here in Switzerland, but many have a fireplace, when it does not rain for weeks, if you have a white cat, you can see some traces of soot, nothing serious.
