Not really.
It was actually a rather great day!
I was trying to catch the attention of anyone familiar with the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. Are you familiar with it? Do you like it? I am a children's book lover, and I think it is a very cute book.
Do you have a favorite children's book? What do you like about it?

Oh I didn't read the book but I saw the movie! It was hilarious. My husband and I laughed a lot watching it. It has some great lessons though.

@makingpots Not that many children's books but I did read a lot of Enid Blyton's stories growing up.

@makingpots my memory is dim. It has been a few years.
I bought a book at a teacher's store and it was full of activities to go with the book. One I remember was the kids made a paper "doll" or Avatar of Alexander (I altered it so the girls could make a girl version). They had a page of sad and happy faces to cut out. During the day they would glue sad faces by their Alexander when bad things happened and happy faces when good things happened. It helped certain children notice the good things instead of focusing on the little frustrations throughout a day at school. It gave us good discussion points about how we affect others, let others affect us. etc.

This is one of my favorite stories. I too love children's books. I like both Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree and The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams, but I must admit I choke up and get teary when reading either of them out loud. One of the greatest pleasures of having grand children is reading to them. For older children the Narnia books and Madeleine L'Engle books.

we have similar tastes in children's books, GardenGerty. I especially love The Giving Tree.

Glad to know that it's not you who had a terrible day.
I didn't know about this book. I will look for it if I have a chance.
I am actually not a children's book lover. I didn't read many children's book until I have my own children. I don't know much about children books.
There was a book, given by a friend, One Smile, by Cindy-McKinley. I like it, as it's talking about a little girl who smiled at a sad young man and cheered him up with the smile. Then, the young man became inspired and wanted to work hard again, and he helped another woman...... Just because of a smile from the little girl, it built up a "happy chain" for many people.
I always like to tell my son this story, and remind ourselves to be kind and nice to others, and it'll make the world more beautiful and peaceful.
I will be glad to read the children books you love.
