The Flu Jab

I am just trying to find out if anyone else has suffered since having the flu jab. Ever since my flu jab I have had an on off cold. Sometimes really bunged up and sneezing other times fine. Now is this just a coincidence or maybe I just keep getting little colds. Has the flu jab affected you ?

It is most likely that it is a coincidence. The flu jab will affect a few people by giving them some flu-like symptoms (aching, headaches and raised temperature). Treatment is usually to take paracetamol/tylenol and to keep warm. The symptoms will disappear in a day or so. The symptoms of a head cold are different and are not likely to be caused by the flu jab.

Thanks for explaining things for me. I will continue to get the flu jab next year then. I will follow your instructions. I must just be open to colds.

@suzzy3 Colds are about all the time, of course. I can't help feeling that the flu jab does put a small strain on the immune system so that, although the common cold is a different virus entirely, the body's defences may be a little low for a few days after the flu jab and so one may be more likely to catch a cold. Plenty of vitamin C, warm drinks, fresh air and, maybe, a few doses of paracetamol/tylenol are in order. I usually treat a cold with a hot drink of lemon, sugar and whisky before bed.

All I ever get with the flu jab is just a sore arm for a day or so.

My arm hurt like mad for a couple of days but that seems to be normal. I am hoping this head cold soon clears up.

I never had a flu jab and I had no colds for 40 years, this year I am having cough and I know it's one of my guests who was sick when they visited.

@suzzy3 We cannot complain, there is not a problem of pollution here. I feel better today, I should be fine by Sunday.

I never get the flu jab, but my husband does. There's been no difference in the incidence of our getting colds or flu - neither of us have suffered in the last few years.

I have never had flu, my husband thinks he has, but to him a heavy cold/cough is influenza!

Working in a healthcare office I hear many complaints from folks who suffer from the jab - "worst flu I ever had". I've heard this for years and I don't think it's a coincidence.

Normally with the flu jab I am ok,not this year. I suppose it effects everyone differently. Shame if the flu jabs really makes you ill.

Yes me and my husband have suffered since having the jab, same as you sneezing, cold symptoms. I did wonder if it was just us but we spoke to a friend who was also the same. Seems to have affected people this year, we have never been like this other years.
