What a depressing weather prediction

I rarely bother checking the weather reports, mainly because they are notoriously unreliable. This morning I decided to have a change and checked my local weather for the next 10 days via the Microsoft weather app. The prediction of rain is far from unexpected in England, but the consistency of it can be very disheartening. The next 10 days were a mixture of 4 different types of weather, which were Rain, Light Rain, Cloudy and Rain Showers. Basically they have just rephrased the same description in order to make it appear less monotonous.

For the next ten days there is not prediction of rain, but sunny for 5 days, partly sunny for 3 and foggy for two. Please send in some rain, I will send some sun.

I would like to build a pipeline so that we can send all the rain to you. I know that rain serves a good purpose, but we still get really fed up of it.

@Asylum I can easily understand because last spring it rained all the time and now nothing at all. Someone is not doing a good job up there, we should send a complain.

@LadyDuck They are probably just retaliating for all the pollution that we have subjected them to.

Oh, you horrid sunbathing girl. I must admin that I would be gloating as well if I was on holiday at the moment.

It's pretty much the same here but the words sunny skies and breezy then sunny skies and windy or sunny skies with gusts up to 30 miles per hour are more common. We pray for rain and if we see it in the forecast we can hardly wait.

We certainly have no need to pray for rain, it rains more hours per day than we have daylight here.

@rebelann I have heard of the Sun, but I always thought that it was just a legend.

Ok, I'd love some rain @Asylum but I'd go loony(er) if it stayed that way for more than a week. I love the sun too.

I also heard the northern part of the globe will be experiencing farther away from the sun tilt. I think that means something like wearing a cap. Have you tried an umbrella?

Umbrellas mare only any use to stop vertical rain, but with our winds the rain here tends to be horizontal.

@Asylum I guess if you held it against the wind might poke someone.

Isn't amazing how they have so many phrases that mean the exact same thing? It's the same with thunderstorms. You have thunderstorms, storms, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain.

weather forecasters always prove wrong. If they forecast rain on a particular day, either it rains a day before that day or 2 or 3 days after day, most probably it rains on a day which is supposed to be a sunny day as per their forecast.
@Asylum (47893)

This was commonplace here at one time, but now we get rain so constantly that they can confidently predict it and be proven right.

@rocky1980 When we think about it there is no excuse for a wrong prediction these days. People spend years studying meteorology and then use millions of pounds worth of computer equipment running specially written software to analyse data from a myriad of satellites orbiting the planet, yet a farmer can predict the weather more accurately.

@Asylum So in England there is no threat to their credibility. Here in India no one takes them seriously. They are also human beings they are not god, humans do mistake specially when it comes to predictions of any sort.

To be fair ,here the weather forecast tends to be as right as nails .They said " rainy day will be expected today ",however yesterday the weather was so fine .Sure enough ,it rains all day today .

Canada is not exactly famous for constant sunshine and you probably get more snow than we do in recent years.

@marlina I have to agree with you. Canada may get some severe snowfalls, but we tend to have fairly regular miserable weather throughout the year.

@Asylum You are right but I think the weather is still a little bit better than England. Not saying this to offend you! We do get a lot of snow.

Unfortunately you are spot on there. It would not be so bad if we had vertical rain like most places do, but with the winds we end up with horizontal rain.

It would have been much easier for them to forecast 10 days of rain, but for some odd reason they chose to vary the wording.

I can understand this one. When we have a lot of rain or tropic depression they can go on for days on end. By the end you're happy they are over.

@Asylum No it doesn't. You wake up each day and know what to expect. Grey skies, rain, clouds, and storms. You know when you leave the road conditions are the pits and you hate to go out in it. Plus where you live when this one happens it makes it even colder and more miserable so you surely don't want to leave your home.

Here's hoping they are in error and that the have erred on the side of sunny. It would be awful to have some of that rain turn to freezing rain, although I guess snow would not be so bad as long as it was not horizontal. We have had that here, but not in a while.
@Asylum (47893)

The rain seems freezing at times because the wind blows and with wet skin it seems bitterly cold at times. The snow is far better because despite being cold it does not make us so wet.

Those weather predictions can be unpredictable. The guessing games come into play but they still have to forecast. We had a lot of rain. It can be relaxing but the joints aren't too pleased with rain.

We've had weeks like that before, but thankfully not very often. Right now we are having great weather for this time of the year. It's supposed to get into the 40's Fahrenheit for several days, which is above average for us.

Our weather is also above average for December as far as temperature is concerned. Personally I would prefer it to be dryer, even if it was colder.
