Dr.s and Prescriptions

The cost of prescription drugs is getting rediculous. When I first started using eye drops to counteract the effects of glaucoma 5 years ago, one of the prescriptions cost the unholy amount of $195 for a 3 month supply for both eyes. The last time I filled it, it cost $322.
I had an appointment with my eye doctor Wednesday and mentioned I didn't have any more refills left on my prescription. He asked what I was paying for it and I told him. He was astounded! There is now a generic for it which will only cost me $10 for a bottle of eye drops half the size of my original prescription. (I'm only using it in one eye now)
I know pharmaceutical companies have to recover R&D cost, but the difference in generic and original is positively rediculous.
