Planner/Journal Combo

I may have finally found the answer to my planner dilemma. Here is the dilemma: I buy planners that are pretty that I think I will use. I use them for a few days, then stop using them for whatever reason or no reason at all.
Well, recently I discovered the concept of Bulleted Lists or Bulleted Journals, aka #BuJo. Basically, you take any journal or notebook and start making bulleted lists. It could be to-do lists, bucket lists, shopping lists, birthday lists, WHATEVER. Each list gets its own page.
The first couple of pages of the journal/notebook are your index, where you keep track of what lists are on what pages. You can also create spreads, such as a spread for a week, and track it on the index/Table of Contents.
This is great for me, because my schedule changes every day. Sometimes I start work at 9:30, other days I start at noon or 1:00. It's crazy. This way I can make a general to-do list for the week and then plug those tasks into the days when I start later.
In the center of my booklet, I have a habit tracker. I have certain habits I want to do daily, such as read with my daughter, do my daily devotions, and exercise. I have those tasks/habits down the left side and a # for each day across the top. I can check off the box for each day I complete the task. I can also put a big, fat GOOSE egg in the box for the days I don't complete it. So far I'm not doing very well. But at least I'm becoming AWARE of the habits because I'm getting more more into spending time with my BuJo every day and looking at it. That's actually one of the habits, too.
Some people like fancy expensive journals so the ink they use doesn't bleed through. I agree that would be ideal. However, I just printed off some grid paper and made my own from printer paper and scrap book paper for the cover for now. If I stick with it, maybe I'll upgrade myself to a better book down the road.
What about you? Do you keep a planner or a journal? Both? Do you keep them in the same place?

That is exactly right! As long as it something you will use, that is the point! So far I am still using my BuJo. Ask me in January and who knows! LOL! I am just trying to get organized any way I can.

I love the concept, especially with all of those artsy things people do with their Bujo. I tried it myself, but unfortunately, I have better luck using mine when it just has basic stuff. I try to color it up using hand drawn water trackers, weather info, and Twitter followers.
