Why would I pick on you and your post?

You know, I just might report your post, or even tell you it was not a "legal" discussion. It might not be me, but one of the other long time members of the site.
It could also be someone who has been around writing sites for awhile, even if they are new here.
Why would anyone do that?
Some of those people are just bossy, or know it alls.
Really, why should anyone care, we all get paid?
The reasons we mind your business is because we care about the survival of this website.
Some of us have been here for a lot of ups and downs. Some of us have seen other sites nibbled to death by people who spam or cheat. Shoot, even people who unintentionally violate rules can cause survival issues for myLot. We want to be around for many years, visiting, talking, chatting and sharing.
Believe me, it is kinder if we suggest to you or tell you that you are breaking the rules, so you will KNOW and have a chance to make things right yourself and not make the same mistake twice.
There are people who have been around for the lingering demise of Bubblews and we are determined that violators will not stay here.
So, if we think you are in violation, we will tell you, or report you. Take it seriously, and if you do not agree, talk to admin, and see who is right. Get clarification.
We are not really party poopers and tattle tales. We just love myLot and want it to survive.

Totally agree. It has been such a pleasure to be here where the programming works or appears to most of the time. everybody complained at Bubbs but when the servers or the program went down there just wasn't anything I could do. Then just when they finally start getting it right, they close. We definitely don't want those same cheats to burrow in here.

That is right, all parts of the system need to be working for the site to be a success.

@Hatley it is even people who have never been on any site. They do not know or understand. They just need to not think others are mean for pointing out the errors of their ways.

Now be honest, you are just a bully.
One really good point about Mylot is that if we report a discussion it is checked and dealt with rapidly, which is precisely what we need. As you may recall many members gave up bothering to report anything at Bubblews because the posts would still be there 10 days later. This simply makes rule breaking and spamming successful and attracts many others.

I agree that we have to feel confident that something will happen when we report an issue. Sometimes we are not sure ourselves but would want people to double check that their posts are legitimate by our rules.

@Hatley I know, that was frustrating. I wish we would all be conscientious about the rules.

I might correct you, but I would hope my words would be gentle. I guess that is something we more experienced people need to practice.

Great article! I hope I never violate any of the rules here. Please if you see that I am feel free to point it out to me, because it is never my intent. I love this site, and I did see what happen to Bubblews. I never want that to happen here.
I appreciate any help you offer, and try never to be in violation. I welcome you to point out any thing you see wrong with what I post.

You know, misunderstandings happen, and people get offended, but if they read the faq and then ask, they can learn.

Exactly @GardenGerty what's the harm in asking questions if you don't know what the heck is going on, right?

No one wants to be on the war path either. I do not know what I would do if someone suggested I was spamming, I might take it personally but I think I would try to re read the rules or ask for clarification.

I hope the guilty will read this but I suspect they won't because many of them really don't care, they don't read the guidelines and they violate left and right. I just report them and let it go at that.

I try to read a great variety of people, although I have my preferred circle. I just notice that often people who are pointed toward the truth get upset if it is not what they wanted it to be.

I will report anyone abusing this site. I care about MyLot and don't want to see it go downhill like so many other sites. I do not report because I disagree with what you said or your English is a little rusty. I do report for someone plagiarizing, spamming, being disrespectful to others, or writing nonsense. I want us to have a place that others love to visit.

@GardenGerty Looks like I missed this one. I have been off for a few days. I needed a break from computers and work in general. Having all these things to do day in and day out there comes a time you say stop and just leave to be unplugged and not think about hwat you're missing.

I'm new to the new mylot.
I was around for a while when the old site closed but gave up as there were very few decent discussions.
I like the new site but would prefer the old format with a few additions but this site is pretty much OK and I'm glad older members have returned.
Sites like daily mail online have millions of members, me included, where moderation is very heavy and people don't make a penny.
Mylot has legs if we keep high quality members...I'm astounded it hasn't grown because it really could.
Many of us have made friends here and I for one am glad its back and gaining members...the only way to keep it up is if we all protect it.

Eh... it's not surprising to me because a lot of people like us decided to leave when all the spammers showed up.
The membership has been steadily growing in the last several months, and it's a lot more active than it used to be. I think we're on the right track at least, although it could take a while to get back to the sort of active member base we used to have. It did take over five years to get it to where it was, after all...
