Go South

Last night, fortunately or unfortunately I participated in a discussion. I read the whole discussion and comments. I misunderstood the whole discussion and thought, all commenter are having fun and kidding with one another. I left few funny comments there, which was a mistake. I am also not good in humour. After a while I got a response notification from the post owner.
So I went in there and I found following reply:
“I might write another post because this one seems to have gone south. Are you familiar with that term?”
I wrote “no enlighten me please.”
And the reply came: “drop out of sight, disappear or take it to another place.”
I got little embarrassed and felt a little rude on his/her part. However, at the same time I was feeling grateful to him/her for I have learned a new phrase “Go South”, I only knew 'South Paw' till last night. Anyway that’s the reason I have started here i.e. to improve my written English.
So, while embarrassed, I decided to move South and stay there. I went to sleep and spent the night kind of “in comma.” In the morning when I came out of my coma, I returned to mylot and as I scanned for new notifications, I noticed that same post owner has responded to my comment on a new discussion, I couldn’t remember when I did leave a comment on that discussion. So I clicked the link. On that page I saw that that’s the same post, but reedited and with a different title.
Don’t get me wrong, I do not want to criticize or whine about it. All I want to say that we also have a Delete button; use it. If you do not like a comment, you can delete it and I hope commenter would receive a message regarding it.
Or else there should be a reject or Dislike button so that if I dislike or want to reject a comment I can press that button. And the commenter receives the notification that he/she is not welcome to participate in the discussion.
I request all the senior fellow members to give their valuable suggestion: “what to do if caught in a situation like this.” When to move or stay in south. I hope I managed to convey what I want to say. (as I doubt my written english)

I just thought she meant that people didn't understand what she was trying to say, so the discussion had gotten away from her. It had "gone south," so she was going to start over with a new one. I didn't think it was a swipe at you, but I could be wrong.

Do not underestimate your capacity to justify someone else's view.
This platform is not a tutorial to impart lesson. The greatest lesson the above mentioned member should learn is to be modest.
Learning something new is always good, but you should not demean someone for that.
By the way, you already have a fairly good knowledge of English.

"Gone South" = Something has seriously got out of hand. In this case, the direction of the discussion has gone bad.
What would I do, as I'm trying to actively reduce stress level I probably would drop that discussion right away. It would class as "stress I don't need in ma life" xD
It accomplishes very little to keep interacting with a discussion that's "gone south" and it will probably do nothing than further annoy you. :)

We have to be very careful with our comments for we are talking to different people known only in this site, better comments only shortly but with thoughts.Never allow others to kill your dreams. We are only human beings subject to commit a mistake. Let us be broad-minded and considerate. There was somebody who commented my post harshly, I just ignored his comment to avoid viral reactions and interactions.Stay calm and enjoy life for you did not create a crime....

this is such a big relief reading your post. I left that discussion in an anxiety, and it still makes me feel kind of awkward about it. After reading your positive remarks I have begun to feel light. I just thought the member could have helped me by explaining it in rather simple words. Appreciate your support.

@rocky1980 That is one reason why we grow to listening to others contention for one brain is not enough to support and solve a very crucial issue that may down our feelings. Just do what you believe right.Believe, follow and follow what you believe. The admin does not correct or ban you, so there is no reason for you to be sicked about nonsense questioning of your action.Stay sweet and humble.Humility is the best policy introduced to us by our loving God

Misunderstanding a discussion or comment is inevitable at some time, so I do not consider it to be a major concern. There is no need to delete anything unless it is seriously unacceptable, so personally I would have simply added another comment to point out that the original was due to my misunderstanding.
Nobody is likely to be offended or upset about a simple mistake.

don't know about the thread concerned but a simple delete might suffice for any unwanted comments - outright abuse can be reported - hope such misunderstandings are rare here

You might find this interesting--look at the brown writing--the definition on the bottom.
Instead of delete or dislike--IGNORE!!

@rocky1980 You have made a good point here: If not happy with a comment, you have an option to delete or dislike it. A good tip, thanks.
