The evening centred on a friend’s 50th birthday celebrations in a favourite Manchester pub, Bar Fringe. Several friends I haven’t seen for a while came along specially to help celebrate the landmark birthday too. As many of us are or have been involved in battle re-enactment groups I really missed being part of the scene – lack of steady income has kept me from renewing my membership for three years now. The weather was dreadful and bus services were poor too, but the birthday drinking went on regardless. Happy birthday Mark.

yes it is quite exhilarating and a bit like being in an oversized rugby scrum and with the pikes we use rather like playing Ker Plunk with people
