I must remember to start liking discussions and comments

As you no doubt already know, there is a feature listed below each discussion or comment among the hyperlinks for Comment or Report etcetera entitled Like.
Despite being aware of this, it somehow never occurs to me to use this when responding to anything here at Mylot. I must have read many excellent discussions and comments during my time here, but always overlook this opportunity to acknowledge the quality.
My carelessness in this respect was pointed out to me recently by a friend here, but I still seem to make the same mistake and overlook the link. I know that I have to make a concerted effort to use this feature more often and will certainly try hard to do so.
Meanwhile I must apologise to all those who have submitted good quality discussions and comments that I have not acknowledged. I can assure you that it was carelessness and not a lack of appreciation for what you write.

I'm the same way I do appreciate so much what I read here. How else could you get a different perspective without it. And yeah some things you really like. Does anyone know if like does anything. And if you like then unlike it, why I don't know then what?

I use the "like" feature when I have ran out of things to reply back with. It allows the user to know I read it but wasn't sure where to go from there.

@Asylum My sentiments exactly. Of course I realize I am borrowing habits from facebook as well.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That is not a site that I have had much dealings with.

But the button is right next to Respond. Should make it easy, once you convince your mind to remember.

@ElizabethWallace I found it easier at the other site because in the early days members were paid for each like, which made it far more significant.

@Asylum I don't have the money figured out here yet. Do you know what the parameters are?

@Asylum I figured this out at the other site. I have to like before I write anything.

I wonder if it has any bearings on one's earnings. All the same it is a good practice to acknowledge a good topic.

@allknowing I suppose that is human nature because we easily become distracted.

No problem - you have always been one of the most active commentators so no one should feel affronted by not getting likes too

@arthurchappell Nobody has been overly concerned about it so far, but I still feel that it is a little unfair of me.

@Asylum I've no doubt you will if you remember but hopefully no one will make you feel bad if you don't remember to

I'm somewhat the other way around and have to stop myself from liking too many as I tend to read every responses and comments on discussions I like. Instead of appreciating my like, people might get annoyed by a flood of like notifications they get as a result of my action if I don't restrain myself...

it was easier in the old mylot because you can easily see the + and - signs. now it only shows up when you hover the mouse.

@hereandthere This seems a sensible and methodical approach.

@Asylum since i read everything before responding, i like as i go along. sometimes, i can't think of a response yet and wander elsewhere and forget. then days later, i'd stumble on it again and finally have something to say.

lol It is hard to break a habit once established and when we do things even on here a certain way, it is hard to do otherwise.

@BelleStarr That is the habit that I am trying to get into, which is fine as long as I have the concept in my mind at the time.

@Asylum I do it much as I did at the B, like first if I like it and then respond.

Once you start doing it then it becomes second nature. But I don't like a comment or a discussion unless I really do like it.

@Asylum I also do not like things that I don't really "like" I may comment but I don't like.

Basically the majority of the time I like is when I personally have nothing else to add to the conversation. I use this as a way to let people know I've read what they wrote and then move on. I don't use it on all comments. I'm not sure it does that much good or not.

@Asylum Yes maybe so. I never really considered this one and basically I do like super great comments but also use it when I have nothing to say to a comment that was left. I use it to let the person know I saw their comment and I appreciate them leaving it for me. fI know when I hit like this person does gain a little but not much.

I do understand that if you take the time to comment, you probably do like the post. I am always glad to see your interactions. I am so grateful that I have long term friends here on the site.
