I just saw this recently and thought it was absolutely astounding. Perhaps you saw it too.
On the average, sharks kill about 5 people every year. When that happens it is all over the news,. But did you know that in that same time span of one year, HORSES kill about 20 people. Cows, yes COWS kill about 22 people every year. Who knew?
What about Jelly Fish? Would you believe that about 40 people every year are killed by Jelly Fish?
ANTS, yes, ants kill about 30 people every year and DEER kill about 130 people every year.
But, the one that surprised me the most was this one. HIPPOS kill over 2900 people every year! WHAT? What in the world are people doing that they would be killed by a Hippo?
Where is this happening? Do you live in a country that has a lot of hippos?
Goodness gracious! Me oh My! Why do so many people have to die?

Mosquitoes are the worst. They kill 655,000 each year because they spread malaria.

@totobasso Yes, I have read that. I was reading about the building of the Panama Canal and was horrified at the deaths from mosquitoes causing malaria and other diseases too. In "developing" countries, mosquito nets are badly needed to protect the people. I can only imagine what it must be like to have to sleep in sub-standard huts or worse with mosquitoes swarming everywhere. It makes me ill to think about it.

I don't really know. I just heard a report about the number of deaths and it seemed absurd. How do you go about verifying something like that?

I am also wondering what people are doing to the hippos to et killed by them. We don't have any hippos in my state other than what is in the zoo. I guess we hear about the sharks more because well they look more scary and bigger than the other animals listed.

Yes, I'm sure that there are people killed by bees. I have a friend who is highly allergic. I helped her get to the hospital once. She was swelling up all over. Her face was unrecognizable and her throat was closing up. She got there just in time, they said. And then a couple days later, after the Benadryl wore off, she began to swell up again and had to go back for more treatment.
