How do I look in this dress?

Hi
A very much common question asked by a wife to his husband and a hard question for a husband to answer.
For all mylot female members, if you don't mind to share how was your husband's reaction when you asked this question at some moment of life.
For all male members, what you usually say? Seen Truth or heart Truth
You might be thinking why I am asking such stupid question when I am unmarried and single. Indeed a good question to ask.
I went for shopping with my group (college friends 3girls 2boys including me ) We have a couple in group as well. They are involved in themselves that much that our presence doesn't matter.
One of my friend tired mini skirt and asked me how do I look ?
I was confused what to say? Since I took 2 minutes to respond. I said you look okay
(In my Mind I was saying to myself Sh*t how I can say 'okay...')
And there she get started. I know I don't look good. I don't look sexy.
So.the last question for female members how you choose your clothes- depending upon what others say or depending upon what you like to wear.

I do not need to ask to my husband, I see from his look if he likes or not and I am critical enough with myself to see if I look good or not wearing something. I know I looked great with mini skirts when I was young, I cannot say that I do not look good now, but I would never wear a mini skirt at my age.

My King, something important for you to remember is that no question is stupid! If you do not know the answer, how will you learn the answer if you do not ask?
When any woman/girl asks me that question, I always give them my honest opinion. I will not try to flatter her. I believe that a woman asks questions like that because she wants to know what we think, possibly how we feel about the way she looks.
How I word my answer can/does change according to who the person is and whether I care how they look or not.
If my daughter asks my opinion of how she looks in something, I first tell her if I like the looks of the garment, without worrying about how she looks wearing it. Then I tell her if the garment looks good on her. (Yes, even if I don't like the garment, sometimes it does still look good after she puts it on, so that can be two very different answers!)
When one of my wives ask me that question, I always tell them if they like the garment, then it is fine. (That usually kept me from getting in trouble if they were fishing for a compliment. Both of them told me I am not very romantic... LOL! I am a very romantic person, but I don't like listening to all the bullsh*t a woman can heap on you for giving an answer they don't like!)

The art comes over a period. :) Like you get to say ...it could have looked better if it was say longer or of a different color..or of thicker fabric or fabric which was not as soft or stiffer..whatever. lol. When we say "it could have looked better" it is an indirect statement "BAD".lol. Dishonestly honest, but women are quick to capture those implied meanings Robb. I noticed that.

@ramapo17 ..how does he get away saying he is romantic? All he needs to say is you look more beautiful than Gloria Swanson in 70's and stuff some ear buds. His wife would truly think he is romantic if he continues to smile benevolently despite the barrage of words that are likely to follow.

I want to hear an honest opinion if I ask the question. If I look awful in something and am told I look great in it, and then I go out in public looking awful how does that help me?
Having said that, if I think that I look good in something, then I might wear it, even though someone else has said that he or she does not think it looks good on me.

@vandana7 I agree. We should dress the way that we like and are comfortable, but we should also keep in mind that we are not the ones that have to look at ourselves all day long.
@UR_Forever_Raja I would not kick somebody out of the bedroom for giving me an honest reply as long as it was not done in a nasty manner. There is a difference between saying "That outfit does not compliment your figure as well as some other ones you have" and "You look like an elephant trying to fit into a mouse's outfit".![](/Content/images/emotes/whistle.gif)

@vandana7 Dearheart? I'd like to ask about something, if you don't mind?
Raja suggested he would like you to set up an avatar that means something to you instead of using the myLot pre-set green avatar... You didn't acknowledge his suggestion so, being curious myself, if you feel like telling me...
Why do you still use that ugly green avatar instead of a beautiful scene, a flower, an abacus or something else that you like?
Yeah, I know I am nosy, but I did say "if you feel like telling me", too...![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

Yes, @Beatburn , I can see how honesty is the best policy for you to use if she can tell when you are lying to her!

It's not a question I would ask, as I've a pretty good idea of what looks good on me by now. However I've sometimes seen myself in a photo in what I had thought looked good, and realised that it didn't look good at all.
.
As your friend asked you the question I think you should have been honest, perhaps saying ''It's a little short'', or something like that.

@UR_Forever_Raja But do you understand now why you should avoid telling a girl anything about her clothing?
If you tell a girl that the jeans she is wearing are too tight, she will be upset because she will believe you are telling her she looks fat in those jeans.
If you tell the same girl that her jeans are too loose, she will believe you are telling her she does not fill the jeans out in a sexy/nice looking way so will be upset with you.
If you say nothing or change the subject, she might be a little pissy with you, but usually a girl will get over that pretty quickly!
Most girls are insecure about the way they look, so will automatically believe the worst thing possible from the words you say. Men cannot win, my King!![](/Content/images/emotes/sad.gif)

I had a advice from a friend (female one) - never tell anything about dress to a girl. I Still didn't understood reason behind it. I used to tell my friends that don't wear tight jeans when I was in 12th grade but then my friend said avoid saying so to a girl. So from that day I rarely comment on girl dresses.

Your friends need to learn its not your job to decide what they wear. You have to be strong enough to ignore that question and pretend you never heard it. If asked shrug and say if it makes you happy - buy it, if it doesn't don't. A bit of confidence looks good on a woman and a man...
I don't ask that question, never have and never will. If I don't like what I see in the mirror, I don't buy it. I don't need someone else to tell me what to wear..or how I look.. Good luck!! ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

I noticed one thing, when I like something, I ask dad, and dad does not like it, and still I go ahead and buy it, then it becomes something everybody appreciates. The other way round, if dad likes it, its an average garment. So I have decided, I know better. lol

I've always hated it when people (other than my daughter) have ask me that question... I will ask my daughter if my hair looks okay before we leave the house, but I don't ask her about my clothes!
On the other hand, when she gets new clothes, someone else almost always "helped" her pick them out, so she wants my honest opinion about them. I do my best to be objective and tell her the truth. If it looks good, I tell her that. If it looks good on her, I tell her that... If it doesn't look good or doesn't look good on her, then I will tell her that, as well. She almost always takes my word for it.
We have similar taste in clothing... Sometimes she does borrow something from my closet. I get it back when I wash the laundry!

Just tell the turht. If you say that they look good when you know that they don't, that could cause problems later. They might be testing youto see if you really tell the truth or not

My ex ask me that questions a lot. Men dont really care about fashion but most ladies breathes them. As long as the girl looks pretty in our standards we are happy. Yet they were still obsessed about being fashionable that looking pretty enough. LOL when a woman decided to buy a single dress it will take forever.
