This past sunday evening my brothers band performed at a local Toys for Tots event. It was the first time I have ever been to a fund raiser/toy drive of this kind. All of the performers donated thier time to perform.
The only critique I have of the whole event was why hold the event on a sunday? I'm certain that more people would've attended had it been on a saturday.
One of the things that I was happy with seeing was the two huge boxes full of toys. The other, no bell ringing!

I would wonder why it was on a Sunday, too, @Plethos !? That does seem a little odd if they were actually wanting donations for the kiddies....
Unless you were there trying to see what you could pick up for yourself in the way of new Christmas goodies that had been donated? Get anything good? (teasing!)

I don't mind the bell ringing, it all goes to those who need help at Christmas. our YMCA has boxes already filled with toys and clothes for kids in need. It was nice of your brother's band to give up their time for charity!

My theory is they may have thought too many people would actually come and they wouldn't be able to accommodate everyone. I say this because we've been to quite a few Toys for Tots events throughout the years - and it often seems to be this way. I am bummed that many of the local Toys for Tots events haven't been around in the past couple years . . . our local amusement parks used to have a great deal where if you bring a toy in worth over $20, you could get into the park free. They don't do that anymore - but perhaps, I am thinking, so many people took advantage of the offer (which of course helped the charity) and maybe it wasn't "worth" it to the amusement parks anymore - I don't know.
It was wonderful that your brother's band took park in this wonderful fundraiser and that you were there too!

Here in Melbourne, Florida, the Boy Scouts of America is having a huge light showing for the entire month. A car load costs $10 but if a toy is brought in, the car load will be $2. And the car can ride around over and over if they want and have as many people in it as it will hold. The whole area is decorated by the Boy Scouts of America.

Toys for Tots is a great program. It is always wonderful to see local people come out to help support them. Your brother and the rest of the band deserve big hugs.

I didn't know about the event, it sounds interesting. You must really enjoyed the event, especially watching your brother's band's performance.
Could it be they couldn't get a place to book on Saturday, hence they did it on Sunday? Or is it always on Sunday?
Here, many events are held on Sundays, because there are still some people working on Saturdays. Sunday is the only rest day for some people or even students.

Maybe, it would be cheaper to rent the venue on Sunday rather than Saturday. I'm glad the event was successful!

Hmm it could be because they thought on a Sunday more people would have the hearts open, to be in the giving mood. *shrugs*

A lot of people go to work on Monday and do not go out on a Sunday. Saturday would be better probably for most people.
