My First Post What's Going On In My Life

Hi all, new and old friends. I finally joined myLot today. I sure have missed my friends from numerous other sites that I no longer participate in or have gone the way of used toilet paper. As some of you know I haven't worked in over 13 years, but my husband recently retired after 37 years working for the State of Illinois. If you aren't aware, Illinois was supposed to have a budget by the beginning of the fiscal year which is July 1st and still they don't have one. My husband got out just in time. Thankfully his pension is intact and we are paid his pension without fail. He was worried about making ends meet but I worked a bit of magic and our bills are currently very small. More on what I did to cut our bills in a future post. We easily make our bills with more than we need left over. Life is very good in our house. We have done a lot of camping and fishing since he retired. It took a while for him to finally grasp the fact that never again will anyone tell him what to do and when to do it. I had faith it would finally sink in. My oldest son Sam is now 24 and living here with us which brings us much joy. He is working a couple of hours short of full time at a grocery store in our area and has many friends he spends time with on his off time. My youngest son Danny is currently attending Michigan State University. He is 23 years old. He graduated from Purdue University in Indiana in May of 2014 with his Bachelors Degree in Physics. He is one semester away from his Masters Degree in Astro Physics. Once he gets his Masters in May of 2016 he has approx. 3 years of research and publishing papers ( or something like that) to get his PhD in Astro Physics. He teaches a Physics class to undergrads and does research for a couple of professors at MSU. They are measuring a comet, asteroid, planet or something like that about 14 million miles away. Why we need to know this is so beyond me. Thankfully he has a full academic ride at MSU as he did as well at Purdue, and gets a very nice salary from MSU for the research and teaching he does there. He will receive this yearly salary for a total of 5 years while getting his PhD. After that, time will tell where he will end up and what he will be doing. It could be teaching Physics at a university or research or both. So I guess I have gone on long enough for this post. Enjoy you evening all.
