As the year winds down I'm picking up on music. Last Saturday I went to see Nick Lowe, backed by Los Straitjackets, with the Cactus Blossoms opening. A triple treat for me!
Next week I get to see legendary country/folk singer/songwriter Iris DeMent. (If you ever watched the TV series Northern Exposure, the final song played at the end of the series was DeMent's marvelous song "Our Town.") Then the week after that it's time for Pokey LaFarge (a roots music hybrid [blues, dixieland swing, and country] singer), and then I end the year with Robbie Fulks.
Happy holidays to me!

That is fantastic. Here on the islands we do get a few bands now and then. Last night UB40 was here and it was fantastic. Everyone loved it. From the young to the old it was a great concert and it was nice to get out and go see a good band play. Now I know it isn't as exciting as yours but here we are limited to how many people will actually come here to play on these islands.

Yes she is. When she played in Louisville, where the sandwich the "hot brown" was invented, she quipped, "I'm married to a hot Brown."

@FourWalls He's really good too. When he's not too drunk.

This will be my third time seeing her. I first saw her 20 years ago at City Stages in Birmingham, Alabama.
