Nowadays, I'm not really comfortable with the way people react when there's some "crisis" happening around us i.e. an armed man attacking the crowd with a knife. It is just one man and I'm unsure what's behind the attack but it was so violent that 2 people were injured while the crowd was filming and photographing away with their mobiles. No one was either helping the wounded or surrounding the perpetrator till the police arrived. I've witnessed this a lot of times and wondered why no one would go beyond taking pictures. I think most people are afraid to get involved. Maybe they figure they might get hurt.

yes, i agree with your opinion . Maybe they are taking videos so it could be posted on FB so that everyone will know about it . It's a documentation . And maybe they are confident that since there are security guards it will be taken cared of by them , since the guy is armed.

@jstory07 If that's the case, then all the more they (filming) should walk away than stay around to become potential victims if the aggressor decides to add a few more into his list. @SIMPLYD Unfortunately and I wouldn't be surprised if the security guard(s) is(are) involved with the filming of the video.

My hubby and me have similar views about taking such pictures or videos, it is at such times we must forget the importance of life and make a valiant effort of preventing more lost of life or risks of injuries. We just felt that we do not have the right to film people while at the same time have EVERY DUTY to ensure a civilized society for everyone.

@changjiangzhibin89 My exact feelings and nowadays we are so afraid to help because some twisted morons are trying to rip off or push the blame on the very people that help them. It is really bad how we have all become and I just feel ashamed when my foreign customers comes to me with such news that had happened in China. I wonder why it is so difficult for people to understand the valuable asset called life where no one has the right to abuse nor trivial with it. Where we should never stop to defend and protect it for everyone.

Some people seem to enjoy being voyeurs of bizarre happenings? Maybe even to the point of staging them.

Well, I'm speechless for the latter. But lately, these attacks are getting more and more radical. Everything is now about ISIS and their terror.

The people taking pictures are gathering evidence for the police. Although it might be nice for someone to help the stab victim. Bearing in mind if you move someone with a stab wound you could do more harm then good. As long as no one else gets hurt and someone calls the ambulance quick there is not a lot more anyone can do.

You'd be surprised if I were to tell you that these people are not helping the police one bit if this is happening in China. They are meant to be uploaded on some local or international media sites like Youku, Tudou, or Youtube (via VPN).

Not sure there but I've read that if you help some one there, either you shoulder the expenses or you get accused instead. not sure, and this is why people don't want to help even if some really want to.

The law is really getting ridiculous also where an act of self defense could be deemed criminal. The perpetrator surely deserves to be dealt according to the law but a vigilant should be looked upon differently.

It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.

I think it is much more than friendship for how can any one ever begin any relationships (casual or serious) of any kind when there is not a single LIKING for the other. There will never be any initiation when both parties does not have any little bit of liking of the other and after this fact, will come the amount of commitment each is willing to give, where the higher the level the more mutuality between both people, to take it to another level and so forth.

I think that many would feel unsafe actually getting involved. I think there is a place for citizen witnessing, but some just like to see disasters
