I spent $30.00 on British Treats ALONE!

How to make this long story short? hmm.
I posted about needing websites that I can buy some of my favorite treats from because my store is starting to cease carrying my favorite treats. First it was the yorkie bar and now it's just going downhill from there.
Plus we really didn't have a variety of things to choose from to begin with. I bought Mcvities Digestives (the chocolate bottom ones) once and fell in love with them. They are expensive where I work but I can get them at walmart sometimes. I haven't been inside walmart in months though.
Anyway I found a website where I can get some of my favorite treats and try new ones as well. I spent $15.00 for the merchandise, but as it is coming from the UK, I spent an extra $15.00 for it to be shipped to me.
The site has a sort of points system though, so I can earn money back towards future purchases.
I really need to see if there are other stores near me that has some of the British goods I like, namely trader joe's as I haven't stepped foot in that store yet but have been meaning to.
We have little Tienda's (Shops in Spanish) for the Latino treats I like, and there is (or was) even a little Asian specialty store here at one time. I know other states have British candy stores but I have not heard of or come across one here yet.

I am sure they have the knock offs but I don't think I have ever seen an actual brand name item from the UK at a dollar store here. I'll have to check it out the next time i'm out that way though.

This is new to me for reasons like, I am from the Philippines & buy needs for our family in groceries & nearby stores only. OL shopping for groceries & other needs? Haven't tried it. In short, I have nothing to suggest. Boring life? No. Just simple. And a "bit" old school. But I still love it! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I like to try new things, and when I find that I like them I want to keep getting the items. I know it can get expensive so I do not always shop this way. I am lucky that a lot of the latino items I can get at local stores, but the British stuff isn't always easy to find.
It's best to live within your means but this holiday season I felt like splurging.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm happy for you! Me? I think spending on my little wishes this Christmas will not be a reality. Just spent a fortune at the hospital for our Bunso. Anyway, what's important for me (for all of us in the family) is Bunso's recovery.

THank You. I am, however, always out for new foods to try.

I really don't treat myself very often. Most of the food stuff I buy, while not being particularly healthy, isn't very unhealthy either.

Haven't received it yet. It is expensive but I suppose you could call it another gift to myself.

That's a lot of money to spend on candy. If Wal-Mart has had your favorite candy in the past, you might try going to their web site and seeing if you can still get it from them. You might also try googling your favorite candies to find the closest location to you. Just thoughts to help save on shipping charges.

I think I confused you somewhere along the way. I was talking about two different stores that I have gotten things from.
The store with the candy is the grocery store I work for. I hardly see the vendors who are responsible for that stuff, but I could always talk to the DSD lady (The one who takes care of the vendors of our store) and have her put in an order for some of the stuff... That is if the vendor still receives the items I was mentioning. In any case, even so, I'd be spending more that way because I'd have to buy in bulk for a special order.
Walmart has the digestive biscuits but I hardly shop there. Not only that but they don't often have them.
I know $30.00 is a lot spend but I think it's worth it somewhat. Not to mention the site I use offers a cash back sort of program where I earn points towards future purchases. I can also earn points for product reviews. They have more variety to choose from as well.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I understood you bought the candy from one site for $15 and paid an additional $15 in shipping charges. I was only thinking you could find them here for less. I'm glad the site gives you rewards making the money you spent worth the cost.

As am I, and one item I picked out isn't even for me. I just hope it does arrive before Christmas, as they assured it might.

I am sure I read that there is some shop in California that sells British goods. Postage is a killer.

Yes there are shops in California. I have friends in California but I don't think they have shops around them. It wouldn't hurt for me to see if these shops in Cali can ship to me, would be cheaper postage wise.

We have a few stores here and there that have traditional-type British sweets.

There are specialty stores in California but I have not come across any in my state, North Carolina.

The store I work at has store brand earl grey, I imagine it's just Twinnings tea in our brand label packaging. I bet there are others you've had and not even known it. Walker's is a popular (atleast somewhat) brand here and it's a British food company.
I think (so far) the only thing I tried and didn't like was Malt Vinegar ketchup. I can't remember the brand but it had something to do with the word Pub.

If you ever discover hobnobs you'll be forever addicted
I think we do make (in the uk) some nice biscuits/snacks that are less processed than some of the stuff you get in the US.
I dont know if you are aware of this but there is a bit of a movement here that wants to stop big US companies buying smaller british companies and taking over brand names.

WalMart has McVitties??? Now that is good news :). Probably one of my favorite treats. I could eat a whole package if I'm not careful. With some PG Tips tea... I've spent a few seasons in the London area and got hooked. I used to live in the same town as a few people who would go over there from time to time. They'd buy me a few and bring them back on the plane. I used to get them at Cost Plus (when I wanted to splurge - kinda pricey) but it's good to hear they're at WalMart - I'll check to see if ours has them. Thanks for the tip!
