Is there anyone in the world who has got an eidetic memory like Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory?

The wellknown Sheldon Cooper in the CBS television series The Big Bang Theory has got such an edetic memory that he seems to be able to remember everything in his life.
I wonder whether there is anyone in the real world holding such a good memory.
I know G.Kasparov, the Russion chess grandmaster has got a very good memory and also some other people. But their good momeries are used at specific areas with their special method for memorising .Can anyone really remember everything in daily life?
Do you know such person?

There are conflicting studies on the subject, and some elements are kinda complex because as Sheldon noted, there are misconceptions about what it actually is. There are people with seemingly strong memories who can recall specific dates times, etc. down to very great detail about things decades ago-and while that impressed people for a while (well frankly, it is impressive), it seemed to be related to specific things about them, and not other details re. other subjects. Then there are those with very detailed visual memory (which is where the statement of "photographic memory" which Sheldon corrects ppl about), but it is not clear re. other aspects that they have or lack...then there are those who remember musical notes or sounds very well-and even smell. It's actually a very large subject, and for that reason we are still learning about it:).

I have never known anyone with an eidetic memory, and can't imagine what it would be like. I think being able to forget some things is probably necessary to our sanity!

I never heard of it - Sheldon mentions in one episode that Wesley Crusher has it in Star Trek Next Gen which was a lead in for Will Wheaton's occasional appearances

I love the Big Bang Theory and I love Sheldon!! There are many people who have photogenic memories and remember everything they see.
PS Next week is the BIG week for Sheldon and Amy--won't tell you what because I don't know if you are seeing the present season!
