I Won't Tell You

My mom always said it was rude. I had more manners than to talk about it. In polite society you just do not ask that question. If you talk about it, you may be bragging, or complaining. It just is not something I would do. You may think the way I am rambling that I am not going to tell you what I won't tell you, but here I am. I will not tell you how much I make, here, or anywhere else. You will not get the exact amount, even if I tell you about how much. I may say that I make more than a certain amount or less than I want to. If you make a post about how much you made, how much you make daily, or something along that line, I quite likely will not read and interact. After all, what can you say if someone's post consists of "I already have $______" or "I only have $------- and I am here night and day." You can say "me too!" MyLot pays, every month, if you make ten dollars before midnight of the last day of the month. If you average at least thirty four cents daily you will make payout most months, except February. You need about thirty six cents daily. Maybe I am old fashioned, but you will not get an exact amount from me. Sometimes in the "real world" at a job, employees are forbidden to discuss their salary or wage, or earnings. Luckily, myLot is not a job, you cannot live on what you make here, and we are not employees. Although we are encouraged not to discuss the algorithm it is not grounds for "termination". So come on people, do not ask me, cause I will not tell you. This may be a rant, please excuse me and go back to your regularly scheduled discussions.

There are only two reasons to talk about how much you earn. One is to complain, the other is to brag. I guess it's not that interesting to me how much others earn. I am only interested in my own money.

Exactly. i am not sure why people would want to ask me how much I have earned, though. It is not their business.

I am polite enough to never ask that kind of questions. So don't you worry!

You would not worry me. You have the same kind of standards I do. I wrote this cause I did get asked.

There have been a few such posts, some bragging and some seeking sympathy. Posting a figure is not even realistic because we all earn different amounts each month.

@GardenGerty There is also the period during which Mylot did not operate an earnings system, but the activity will still have registered. Some people seem to think that earnings can be measured by the activity figure, whereas there are more factors involved than just that one.

@Asylum Correct. And it seems it should be my business. I should have been rude in my replies instead of posting this. You guys do not act that way.

I got a message asking me what I earned since my number is so high. One is not really related to the other since I earned here for several years and that is where my number is from.

agreed, exact amounts are tacky. I will say I was shorter than I had hoped last month, and this month is slow, but whatever! lol having fun.

I made payout, with a little to spare. I would like more, but wouldn't we all? You did nano as well, though.

I seem to be stuck so I won't get too nosy. And I sure won't ask. But I worked union for many years. What one made per hour wasn't a state secret.

Union is pretty standard, I guess. I never worked union. I think in my jobs we did not discuss it to keep down jealousy.

I don't like those kind of posts either. Weirdly enough my husband worked for the State of Illinois for 37 years, and on the state employees website you can see everyone's earnings for the year. And that's a ton of employees, over 100,000 I'm guessing.

Maybe that was public disclosure for citizens to see? Or maybe to get people motivated to apply for other positions within the state. It is odd.

@fishtiger58 That is a shame. It almost feels like they are inviting a federal takeover.

@GardenGerty It's very odd. And the State of Illinois doesn't have a budget, the gov and the congress are fighting. They should have had a budget on July 1st the beginning of the fiscal year. Many state run museums and such are now closed for lack of a budget. But the gov and the senators and the like are still getting paid. Sad state of affairs.

In no way would I ask others this sensitive issue to put them on the spot and ask for rebuff ,because it is none of my business how much others make .

I don't ask people what they make because I think that is rude. And I don't always need to talk about what I am making either.

I grew up very poor and it was rude then and it is rude here as well. I think it is no one else's business. If I earn well, I am happy, if I am not earning well here then I need to either change what I do or leave.

Yes, the only time your earnings would be my business would be if you appeared to be cheating. I do not think you would do that.

I have seen this as a discussion, and it just does not interest me. Most people do not view this as a living and do not ask those questions. It may be other cultures.
