If you're like me (for your sake, I hope that you are not) then you often ask questions to which you already know the answer. Just a moment ago, I asked The Man how he would feel about changing the screensaver on the TV from the digital clock to a fireplace and Christmas music. I got the look I imagined I would get. No verbal reply necessary. If he stood in front of Mount Rushmore, no one would be able to pick him out. It would be like a game of "one of these things is not like the other" but with no winners. So... that's probably not going to happen. I wonder how he feels about nonstop Christmas movies while we trim the tree? Yeah, I already know.

You mean you actually ask him what he thinks?? Lol.

I guess I am just that crazy. Of course, most of the time I count on him saying "yes" when he means "no" just because he thinks I want him to say "yes".

@Rollo1 I say 'yes' when I mean 'no' because I think I'm expected to say 'yes'. What's strange about that?

Why not "door in the face" him into submission? Find an Alvin and the Chipmunks singing Jingle Bells screen saver, and then agree to "compromise" with the fireplace and gentle Christmas music when he can't take it any more?

The man makes me laugh! I could see the way he looked at you, after hearing your question. Ha! Ha! Ha! He is really funny! Call me insane but he seems so familiar. Guess I need to write something about my dearly beloved. And that look!

I can't believe you asked! Just do it. In my experience nobody would even notice if I changed something.

I could get away with it if I didn't ask, because he wouldn't change something he thought I liked. But I wouldn't inflict something annoying on him, either. It's a wonder we ever get anything accomplished around here.

I was not even aware that any televisions had screensavers, nor can I understand why.

@Rollo1 Oh, now that makes sense. I rarely use my television for online streaming, but even I do I never leave it as such once whatever I am watching has terminated.

Most of the time, the TV input is set to the Roku, which is a media streaming box. That's where we watch most of our television entertainment. And it has a screensaver if it in left on the main menu or if a show is paused too long.

Oh, sometimes I just watch annoying shows and I do it because part of me enjoys a little silly TV now and then. I know he's not crazy about those sitcoms, but he doesn't say a word, so I do try to keep the sappy stuff under control.

Just read in your bio you are "on a quest to litter the internet with as many words as I can write." That is fabulous! Me too.

Cool. It's not a well-paying goal, but maybe some of those words will survive us.

I may do a little of it. I don't want to be too annoying. I am just less Scrooge-like than most of the family. I haven't as much humbug in me.

My mother-in-law would always ask me that kind of questions too . And she does it for about 3 times . So on the third time , i will politely tell her i have answered that same 3rd question a while ago already . To which she will say , oh yes .

I think we ask questions that we know the answer to in the hope that just this once, the answer would be different.
